Gripe about Mass Effect: Andromeda's coverage [NO SPOILERS]
So, this is my favorite of the Mass Effect franchise. Hands-down.
Objectively, it's a game that has been getting great review scores as well (well, the Metacritic average is the same as some other games that have been lauded as "great" by the media).
However.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to enjoy, because there is so much freaking negativity about it. It's like a bunch of gaming websites banded together and decided that they would just shit allllllllll over this game. Going by the headlines everywhere, you'd assume that ME:A was an abomination of a game, with poor sales and a sub-50% review average.
I've had to stop browsing a lot of my favorite sites, just because I get bombarded with condescending and click-baity articles. It SUCKS.
I just wanna enjoy my xenophilic, space-exploring, shooting things simulator in peace, guys. Bleah.

FA+

People who pretend to be progressive, who pretend to want to further the cause of under-represented voices, but who are actually just using it for their own ends, and who end up causing actual harm to those they claim to represent.
Mass Effect 1 had a fantastic story and setting, but the gameplay and combat really, REALLY unpolished. The Mako was a running joke of the game's core mechanics because of how bad it was, graphic environments were incredibly lacking in detail and were often empty of not just NPCs, but also decorations.
Mass Effect 2 was a great game overall, but completely forgot the point of the story. Instead of dealing with Reapers and the overall core plot of Mass Effect you were dealing with your companions and their various daddy issues (literally). The game wrapped itself up with an amazingly epic ending, yet also featured one of the worst final bosses in gaming history that ultimately got retconned in Mass Effect 3.
Mass Effect 3 FINALLY conquered gameplay and combat, introduced one of the best multiplayer modes of its kind and was completely and utterly amazing until you got to the ending, where the original ending dropped the ball so badly that the, through the very core of the game's lore, almost all of creation would have been wiped out. The ending was partially retconned, and an entire DLC was created to give the ending an entirely better vibe where focused solely on your companions.
I think a lot of the hate towards Andromeda is founded, but the overall bitterness isn't. People seem to have completely forget the flaws of the previous games because they got blinded by nostalgia. Mass Effect is a great series, but it's always been flawed.
I'm a hardcore Mass Effect fan, too, but some people have willingly ignored the flaws of previous games.
But i'll quietly bow out at the moment. i have my gripes as to how the series has developed and preaching it at someone who likes the series is kinda pointless.
You enjoy what you like, i'll enjoy what i like, and maybe we'll cross roads again

What people also forget about the earlier games is how utterly broken they were in a lot of areas.
I had a friend who couldn't beat Mass Effect 2, because he was a Vanguard and was running into weird geometry issues in the final area.
I remember in Mass Effect 3's multiplayer where I'd get stuck below the map on a consistent basis - again, due to being a Vanguard.
There were some game-stopping issues, but they got overlooked, because... who even knows?
It's like with Skyrim - that was one of the most fundamentally buggy pieces of shit on virtually every system it came out on, full of the same exact kinds of issues that people are lambasting ME:A for, plus it was significantly more unplayable in a lot of ways... yet it had nearly-universal critical acclaim.
Second is the funky ass animations
But overall have been enjoying it. What negativity ya mean, most of what I have seen is all about the animations and a few of the reeeaaaly dumb lines, lines that remind me of poor translated games from back in the 90's bad.
Than again, i go with reviews from other gamers rather than sites that are dedicated to gaming journalism.. they are still horrid things.
