Artists, please don't sell yourself short.

I understand that there are a lot of magnificent artists out there who don't want to overcharge their clients/customers and I think that'a amazing; but please don't sell yourselves short. I inquired about adopt a sketch from a magnificently talented artists who (in my opinion) undervalued her work by a clean $50+ and where it's completely an artists prerogative (man, got to remember how to spell that one O.o) to charge what they see fit; I couldn't bring myself to only paying the amount that was quoted to me.
I know some artists always welcome a client like myself who truly values their art and offers/demands to pay more or at least provide a tip, but from artists I've spoken to it tends to be far and few in-between. Yes there are artists who are good and KNOW they're good and charge exorbitant prices, but hey: if people are willing to pay, you're not being an asshole. It's basic economics, supply and demand.
On the other hand: A dear friend of mine
Kristein purposely charges less for her work than she rightful should for the quality she delivers, BUT it's her gift back to the community for all the joy that it brings to her. Obviously I can't argue with that, but again another artist who I will always tip.
I guess if anything, all I can do is ask is that artists keep themselves open to someone who wants to tip or pay more for your work <3 You deserve it. Regardless of how many worlds I create, I will never be able to visually render them and I will always envy you of that magnificent gift.

FA+

Of-course I was gonna overpay, and was happy to see she saw the same change and increased her pricing. :)
but i think, artists should always make it possible to tip! if they're open to it, especially without the person having to ask how to do so (aka posting a ko-fi link or your paypal in your profile and state you welcome tips/donations)
I keep my prices as low as I can so that they are accessible to people who can't usually afford art, and even then some people beg for discounts. It's not fair. The worst was someone who was rude to me because I wouldn't sell them a full colour backgrounded piece for $5.
Tips are always appreciated, however. People who go out of their way to do stuff like that are sweethearts in my opinion. I don't get many who offer them.
I guess its all a matter of how many people watch you and are able to afford and also willing to pay for the goods.. but otherwise tips always are incredibly nice from people like you! Its a shame that amazing artists sometimes dont accept them
For the record (before i get called a detriment to the art community again xD): i fully advocate for people charging what they're worth, even though i don't do it myself. I tell every new artist who passes through my sphere to not do what i do XD cause trust me, if art were my job, i wouldn't charge what i do. But i have the privilege of being able to do art as a hobby during my actual work hours. So i have no problem personally giving back to the community where i've made my little piece of home. ♡
