What you may not understand about me historically
8 years ago
One. I don't steal art or claim to have drawn anything of skill. Even bad art I have paid for, I have not said that I drew it.
Two. Unless it is a copyrighted/trademarked character, I have created every single character posted on here. I have been involved in furry for over 25 years in some way and have been artified since 1999 or so when I commissioned my first artist.
Three. I have spent thousands of dollars commissioning artists over the last 18 or so years. Some at conventions, but most have been through here. I have commissioned around 100 artists and have well over 500 pieces that I have paid for.
Four. I have created every single character in the same way and each one has been their own entity. Each one has a general background, personality, occupation, interests. I don't copy, I don't steal. I am not saying that they are all unique in that you wouldn't see something similar, but who they are was uniquely designed and their body doesn't have form until I have a solid idea of who they are.
Five. I have created hundreds of individual characters. There is only one that is based on a copyrighted character (Charlene Sinclair) and even then, I took her in a different direction.
If you see it on here, it was purchased by me or in the very rare cases, an artist drew it for me for free.
I am not saying this as a boast. I just want to make things very clear that while I can't drew worth a crap, I have paid a lot of money for the art I have gotten and for art that will never be created. I will continue to support artists that I have connected with who are good, honest and put out a good product at a reasonable rate.
I am also going to start talking to artists about creating a way to offer new characters for people complete with a description or two and some artwork at a reasonable price in sketch form, something they can pay the artist to go further than a sketch, but that gives people who are stuck, something whole to show off with.
