Payday is a few days away and as usual food starts to dwindle fast.
So my husband went out and got some cheap McDonalds burgers, and he's fine with eating that stuff, me tho, I don't have a great history with it.
So now I'm kind of sitting here debating on eating that damn thing or not eating at all.
I probably will end up eating it because- food, ya know.
Bleh.
Bleh I say!

I usually got this as my grocery list. Of course get the cheap off-brand whenever you can:
$3.00 2lb bag of rice
$2.00 2lb bag of potatos
$4.00 2x Can of Dennison's Chili Beans
$3.00 2x Can of Refried Beans
$1.50 Package of Tostada Shells
$2.00 1/2lb ground beef
$3.00 Block of cheddar
$3.00 16-pack cheese slices
$1.00 10-pack chicken / pork / turkey hot dogs
$1.00 Hot dog buns
$2.00 2x Wheat Bread
$4.00 Jar of Peanut Butter
$2.00 Jar of Apple or Strawberry Jelly ( or whichever flavor you like )
$2.00 Bag of sugar
$1.00 x10 cool-aid packets
$2.00 jasmine green tea packets
$4.00 Gallon of milk
$2.00 x6 bananas
$4.00 bag of grapes
$1.00 bag of carrots
$1.00 head of lettuce
$2.00 croutons
$2.00 ranch dressing
$3.00 dozen eggs
$2.00 cereal ( I usually get a small box of Life w/cinnamon )
$2.00 blueberry bagels
$1.00 cream cheese
$2.00 bag of breaded chicken nuggets
and if you really wanna be fancy you can get some velveeta cheese, panda express mandarin sauce, butter / mayo / other condiments, apples and oranges or other kinds of fruit, and potato chips / cheese-it crackers, etc. but that can get expensive and I consider these all to be luxuries that I get if I have extra money :3
Stuff I'll make with it:
chili dogs
(chili beans, x meat dogs, cheese, put all 10 of the hot dogs on a cookie sheet and bake for 15 mins or so )
tostadas
(grated cheese, ground beef, refried beans, shred lettuce, tostada shells )
pb&j sammich
( peanut butter, jelly, bread )
egg salad sandwich
( wrap a potato in a damp washcloth and microwave for 2 mins, POKE HOLES IN IT OR IT WILL EXPLODE, and don't nuke for more than 2 mins at a time. poke with fork to see if it's ready. mash it up with a spoon in a bowl, boil some eggs and mash those in there with it. add salt, mayo, butter, and velveeta cheese if you like. put on bread, add slice of cheese, serve with chips or carrots )
rice with chicken
( if you don't have a rice cooker you can get a deep microwaveable bowl and put a hand towel in the microwave, folded so it doesn't touch the sides. put the tupperware with 1cup rice / 2cup water and cook for 10 mins. add chicken nuggets and cheese / panda express mandarin sauce )
If you make two of these meals the leftovers should feed one person for at least a week. This list is assuming I have absolutely NOTHING to eat in the house, as in empty cabinets / fridge. I don't always have to get eggs or bread or something, so sometimes my shopping cart is much lighter.
Thanking you so muchly!
I will def be adding a ton of this to our grocery list!
Aaaaaah, thank you so much! ;w;
It also helps to eat more fiber, it makes your food more filling so you eat less and if you eat less you have more food and you don't have to buy as much ;)
For the record, foodwise, I think I'm like.... Idk, £30 a month? Less if I was to buy spaghetti a ton, that's 4 days of food for 15p, that's crazy cheap. I know it sounds cheap (I think £30 is about $38) but it's cos I have a single meal a day. It's not great, your body takes months to adapted to it and there's no easy way of resetting the process, so I'd not recommend it. Plus, you'll lose 1/3 of your body weight in a year even without exercising. Again, not great for your body. Only thing I can say is cheaper places tend to be further away. The spaghetti I mentioned is an hour walk away, so a two hour trip in general. Convience costs.
Also, small question, what problem do you have with burgers? Cos it could just be a certain ingredient if it doesn't agree with you, but if it's cos it's a meat thing or something then obviously not. I, for one, can't digest olive oil right. Knots up my insides.
Lots of bad experiences, don't even trust their drinks. Found a finger nail in their tea once.
Bleh. ;A;
Though cooking for yourself isn't always pleasent either. Sometimes the ingredients can be tainted in various ways. Pity America doesn't have chip shops! Can't go wrong with deep fried potato and fat covered fried fish. :P God, I miss the chippy...
