The dreams...

General
I considered spending one night without taking sleeping pills and regret it immediately. I only got 4 hours of sleep and the dreams I get strongly depress me and break me from my state of trying to get through the day to day grind. I'm trying not to break but this is getting tough...

Also I'm sorry that you haven't had a good sleep. *opens arms for a hug*
*Comes into your arms for a hug, wrapping my paws around you*
*hugs back and woah you're big and those are big paws*
You're welcome! It's the least I can do with a keyboard and words :D
*yay! awesome!*
I just take my dreams good or bad! Even though i had one where i knocked some chick's boyfriend out with a size D battery and proceeded to gouge his eyes out with said battery!
You must be really stressed out?
- I read that mangoes or avocados (I really don't remember which one of these) are natural antidepressives with effects as potent as pharmaceutical drugs. Maybe you should try switching to a mango (or avocado) rich diet.
- Physical exercises are known to alleviate both mood and sleep issues. Just make sure that you do something to tire yourself out before going to sleep. I know from personal experience that going to bed tired (physically tired, "worn-out" tired) helps to sleep better.
- You should avoid reading/watching the news, since government-sponsored media is biased towards more "spectacular" negative news. This has been proven to have a bad effect on the audience. For a similar reason you should also stay away from social networks, if you use any.
- Are you under a lot of stress at work? This has also been linked to a lot of psychosomatic issues, the most common of which being depression.
- Try not to worry about what other people think of you, or what they will think of your actions. It only serves to put you under more stress.
Certain creatures have an interesting reaction to physical exercise: The so-called "chase predators", which evolved to hunt by running over long distances in order to tire their prey out, have a brain mechanism that releases endorphins when undergoing physical exercises (originally while hunting), which causes them to feel pleasure under physical strain.
And why am I telling you this?
Because two of the best known examples of chase predators are dogs... And humans. The effect is usually referred to as a "runner's high" and is known to have a strong positive effect, which is also effective in combating depression, along with some other neurological conditions.
Oh, yes, and owning a pet is also known to help with the feeling of loneliness. I'm not sure if you're in a position to own one (from your other journal entries I kind of assume that you're not), or if you're even interested, but it's true.
Also, if you ever considered to try that one "universal medicine" that's been a hot political topic in the last couple of years in many places, namely marijuana, DON'T!
It's a mood intensifier, meaning that if you're feeling down, it will only make it worse. There have been a number of cases where people tried lifting their spirits by smoking pot, only to end up killing themselves in the resulting depression.
I would like to own a pet, but as you already know, it's not going to be quite so easy.
And don't worry, I never will be interested in those drugs. I don't see nor understand the interest in it. It's not pleasurable, it's merely mind altering and quite frankly quite stupid.
