Lel I don't know about that... it's just some people who really, really hold a videogame to heart that they cannot accept any kind of banter or jokes about it, and will respond in an acidic manner. I mean, Morrowind is one of my favorites, but you can shit on it and crack jokes about it to me all you want.

Same here, really X3 I like many games people consider teribble (Like Doom 3) but I don't care if people bash on it. But that sorta behaviour is geeting more common. People take it as an insult if you bash on games or movies they like, as if they were personally involved X3

Don't know if this will be a proper example as well, but I'm a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid game series...yet I can still find, say, parody vids (ex. - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sn0XdECkOtc ) that point out flaws/weaknesses of the games to be hilarious XD and still like the games the I have before.

I'm very soft on video games; only playing some here and there.

That's not just video games though, there's people like that about everything. You'll find people who treat certain bands like gods, or TV shows or whatever. It's not just a Video Games thing.

If only they fucking cared about the GOD DAMN OBJECTIVE as much as they cared about bitching.
