Chalas, a redesign of character... suggestions?

Some of you remember Chalas, some may not.
Having had Chalas a phoenix awhile... I never got him really... he never really played a phoenix well, other than being soft and warm n stuff.
I'm starting to think, I should have him just a non phoenix gryphon. Size... still debatable too.
Also... since he's no longer a phoenix, I'll need a new color scheme for him as well... currently he's far to much like Kalista.
Any suggestions on Good ole Chalas? Size, colorization, feather patterns? (post and reference pic links, if ya got some)

... No, I'm just kidding, sorry. :P I actually liked Chalas quite a lot mostly. You don't see many Pheonix' around, they're quite rare, like avians in general. Besides that, I love colorful patterns - especially green. ;) Oh, and big, of course :P
Kalista will still exist, and the way I play her, she's very much phoenix like. Chalas... I never really roleplayed out that he was a phoenix, all he had was the golden feathers... a Chocobo =P
