I remember when I was a young child, it seemed oh-so-easy to find roleplay messageboards, or just people to RP with over an instant messenger. I don't know if the variety of RPs out there has decreased or if I've just gotten more picky, but I seem to find it difficult to find something I'd actually like to join. So maybe if you're part of a website/board, or know of one, or like to RP over an Instant Messenger, or know somebody who does... you get my drift.
Feel free to make suggestions that don't fall into the "things I like" category, if you think something's really awesome, I'll take a look, even if it falls into the "not too fond of" category.

Settings/themes/whatever I particularly like:
Most fantasy not set in middle-ages Europe
I will make an exception to the above if it heavily involves pirates.
Pretty much anything involving immigrants or settlers
Multifandom RPs
Realistic dogs
Completely unrealistic any-animal

What I'm not too fond of:
Most high school settings
Vampires/werewolves/supernatural whatever, when centered on a "dark, goth-y" vibe and/or focus on undead romance
Anything with a heavy emphasis on romance (not opposed to it as a whole, I just don't want it to be the whole point)
This should go without saying, but cybersex places
Single-fandom RPs (except for pokemon)
Animals/anthros in a Redwall-type setup where certain species are "good" or "bad" by default
Horses and only horses
