First off can you blame them your character has a rather hmmm let's say appealing side to it with how it act and looks and by public do you mean online or public public

It doesnt matter if you "blame them" or not its still a shitty thing to do to take something someones known for and try to claim " oh this is me im this person" when your not

Lol I'm glad he's appealing, that's good. I don't care what do you on Skype or PMs or emails. Whatever. Go nuts.
But this sounds like it was on a public group with a bunch of other people. Which is not cool for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it perpetuates the idea that it's cool to steal other people's character and do with them whatever you like.

In a way it it's both bad and good it's bad with the stealing and what not but good for it's a sign that you ... or your character has fans that like him so much that they wish to role play as him so it's not all bad yknow I don't do that myself cause I got my own characters to use so yeah

Of course there are always such people on the web but there are also many more that are not like them. Negative thinking sometimes suggests the opposite.

I'm not surprised, its a common enough issue. I just want to make sure people are aware of frauds when they come across them. Beyond that, I can only share my stance and hope people respect me enough to stop.
And you don't have to worry about me leaving over something little like this. I've been online for over a decade now and I've dealt with much larger issues than this. When money starts changing hands and I have to involve a lawyer is when I'll probably leave, because that's a royal pain. So far as I know, this issue doesn't even really involve art.

Nice to hear it didn't change much. Some artists are hot-tempered with any kind of false claims or unauthorized use of their works (and I won't blame them for that).

I've been there before, luckily in my case politely (and privately) asking them not to worked out in my case but I know others aren't so lucky /<w<

I also agree that in private places it's fine (cause no one but them will see it anyway) but even though I'd say no anyway I at least prefer being asked first />3>/

Wow. It has gotten to that point already? Dang... I can't tell you from my own experience. Yet. It's a shame, really. I would be really crappy too if someone decided to role play my character without my permission as well.

To be honest, I've come to terms with the fact that it exists. Roleplay groups and roleplay people are often (mind you i say -often- not -always-) kids who don't know better or just not very bright people, and there's no point bickering with them so as long as no one tries to pretend to be me then i frankly don't give a damn if they got a profile picture of a commission of mine, if they repost the art on a art site and therefor claim ownership of the image or pretend they are me by calling themselves by the same name as me, that's where i draw the line and strike back.

But if someone just has my profile pictures as theirs and calls themselves something else then i couldn't care less.
