Rant

Ok I don’t do this often but for once I’m just gonna let my feelings out. The reason I posted, and will delete that video, is because I’m just really frustrated. My chosen job in life is to be a writer and publish my own books. To that end it frustrates me to no end when people just like something I write and give no feedback. Why do you like the story? Is there something I can do to make it better? Do I need to put something to give the writing more oomph? Etc. etc.

Feedback is critical for a guy like me and when I get a like to me that’s the same as saying, “Yeah I like your stuff have a good day.” to me it doesn’t feel like you even care hell for all i know you probably didn’t even really read it thoroughly probably just skimmed it and closed it up going, ‘Yep just another entry moving on.’ honestly it questions whether I should even bother putting these stories up and if i should just close up shop entirely and not bother with this pointless shit and just focus on my career.

The bottom line is I need support for this stuff while it’s fun to get these ideas out it’s highly unrewarding and soul crushing to see it get treated like that. You have no idea how much effort and thought I put into these stories and how it can be utterly mind numbing doing this. You also have no idea that my friends are pretty much, at this point, the only REAL reason why I’m still writing even now. So if you wanna thank anybody for these stories thank my friends.

And a few others who help me out. Were it not for these people I’d stop writing online all together cause they help me with my ideas and give me feedback on my writing. So yes thank these guys, also tomorrow this message will be gone cause I don’t like posting my problems to people especially when I know I’m not gonna get any help because of it. So yeah good night.

Writing isn't at all easy. (I can barely get done 15 pages in a month). It's also going to be poorly received on web-posting sites. Fan fiction gets views. Original characters are nearly impossible to sell.

You say that yet you can find OC's everywhere if they have art, once there's art done usually it steamrolls in their favor

true but like I said it's becoming less and less rewarding and at this point I'm just thinking of packing all my hentai writing and focus on normal writing. Hell I might even stop online writing all together, but I dunno it's just so frustrating and not rewarding especially since I want to improve as a writer.

very true, but one thing to think about is in what direction you want to improve IMO. As kitty mentioned above with writing fan fictions, a large number of folks come through online for the smut, or for spin-off stories of their favorite/original characters, and a lesser number for something they just wanna read to enjoy reading. It's more a matter of presenting your material to the right audience. For example, basic transformation stories would appeal to that part of the fandom, but not as much so to those into macro (generally speaking).

then as a writer, are you trying to improve your grammar? your use of point-of-view? your ability to create protagonist characters with more personality? Writing is a very in depth skill overall.

My grammar is shit I know that, and trust me I could go to school and it still wouldn't improve so I guess the last two are my main concern.

While I certainly understand your frustration, it really comes with the territory of what your writing and where you're putting it. Smut stories in general, rarely receive any real feedback beyond a simple like/thumbs up and people saying they enjoyed it. Mostly because, as long as you're a good writer, they don't feel like they need to give feedback. The people that receive feedback, more often than not, are those that make egregious errors. I know you don't write for your fans despite how many of them you may have. While some authors or artists might create for their fans and for the sake of letting other people enjoy it, not everyone does. Some people, like yourself, thrive off the feedback and critique. People in general do things for different reasons. If you're not writing for the right reasons, I think it would be best you find something you do enjoy, or want, to write and submit it to communities that do offer a lot of feedback. Sites like this one, HF, Literotica, DA, etc. are largely populated by lurkers. People that like to sift through the content, find what they enjoy, perhaps give a fave or like, and continue on their way. While they can offer authors and artists to critique each other the chances of having that mark hit is pretty slim on the whole. Places like this are sadly often best for people to create for the sake of others enjoyment. Not to mention, when your writings appeal to certain groups due to the kinks, characters, or topics involved, it further limits and restricts your chances of getting proper feedback.

Hmmm I guess my thing is that when it comes to porn I'm very unsure that it's worth reading, one I do my non hentai stuff I'm more confident about it. But this is a territory that while I've been in for years now I'm still unsure if it's worth a read. But maybe that's because my more successful prospect is my non-h stuff and that I get more verbal reviews and whatnot. Therefore when it comes to that I feel more confident cause people are more verbal and will point out flaws I have and suggestions. I'm not above suggestions or critique I always am willing to hear them even if I may get a bit annoyed at critique I remember that it's because I can do much better and I'd rather know that so I can give an overall better piece of work. I don't want to say I'm a perfectionist but I believe that if I want to write for the people the people need to help me to give them something worth their attention.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I want to write for the people but because I don't get any comments on it I end up writing for my own vindication which I honestly don't like. I may not be the nicest guy in the world but I don't want to be the most selfish guy either. We're on this planet to help each other grow not hinder each other. I dunno maybe this sounds naive or dumb.

Porn really isn't the field for critique honestly lol. Take a look at any "professional" porn videos after all. The bar isn't exactly set very high lol. I understand what you want and all and it's really not too unreasonable but, it is in a field that doesn't exactly have a high bar or active community of any sorts in the way you'd want. Hell even some of the most popular artists and authors get virtually no critique on these kinds of sites.
