Eurovision Kiev 2017: The Conclusion
General
Another season of Europe's favorite TV event has come to an end. 26 different acts shined on stage, doing their very best to earn the favor of the televoters.
With the exception of a few sour notes here and there, the competition went by flawlessly. And apart from one incident during the interval acts, so did the rest of the show.
When the jury votes came in it became clear that Portugal was to be strong contender, picking up 12 after 12. The pre-contest favorite Italy failed to impress, and it was clear the battle would be between Portugal and Bulgaria when the televotes were added.
As it turned out, Portugal won the televote as well, thus winning the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest by a landslide.
With both juries and televoters having the same winner, no none can call Salavdor Sobral's magnificent victory undeserved. He caught the hearts of both jurors and TV viewers across the continent with his understated, quiet little ballad about love.
Prior to the contest we asked for people to give us their predictions. All 5 who answered had Portugal as a favorite, with Italy and Belgium also sailing high.
Shortly before the Grand Final we asked our followers and chatters to predict again. Once more Portugal was the most prominent song with Italy and Bulgaria following close. Belgium had also climbed into several top lists.
At the opposite side of the prediction scoreboard we found Spain on all lists, and Germany on most.
The overall result matches fairly well with the predictions made by the furry Eurovision fans who've found this little page.
We hope you're all excited for Lisbon 2018 and hope you'll want to keep following Eurovision with us!
