Furry Amino also isnt likely to discipline fake accounts. People should not commission over it. A lot of scammers are abusing their lax rules and policies to steal money, either with fake character sales or fake commissions.

I don't know much about amino, that's ridiculous how lax they are!

There's been a few posts on drama blogs about people being impersonated and when reported, admins basically shrug their shoulders. DA and Furry Amino are so bad about theft.

Actually that's not true. I've taken down at least 7 accounts now on furry Amino that are imposters. It's true there's a lot of scammers but a loooot of them are young kids (13-16) and Amino knows that.

Obviously I'm not condoning what they do, but Amino does take action, they just try to be more gentle because they know most of the kids are young.

That being said, they do take action with scamming and thieving. A lot of people just report the account but the better course of action is to contact a leader or moderator directly, which is one of the things I really like about furry Amino. Once you PM them and brief them about what's going on they have a really easy system to prove scammers are fake. They send a note to the Furaffinity account and tell them to respond to their note saying something exact and if they can't then they're scamming lmao.

Regardless of the age of the users, scamming should be dealt with harshly. It can cause damage to the actual artists and the people who fall for it. If you've had to take down 7 already, that should show what a problem that site is with handling the issues.

I think we just have different opinions on this. Yes it can hurt the artist but Amino is swift with this. Yes I've had to deal with 7 accounts but I actively go looking for them.
If a teenager steals from the store the cops are more likely to let them off easier because to kids getting caught is scary enough for them not to do it again. If cops charged all teenagers how they do adults then a lot of kids would be screwed.
You cant blame furry Amino for having theft problems, it's not their fault, that's just what comes with Their directed audience's age, like how we see with deviantart, and furry Amino is infinitely better at taking care of this than deviantart.

I think with that age range, yes they do know better, but the thing with kids that age is they don't always act on their moral compass. But I do think they are too young to know it hurts the artist, because a lot of kids that age can't see the world outside themselves and how it directly effects them.
Furry Amino isn't just, "oh you stole art? Slap on the wrist" as we see with the imposter poofylion the account is completely taken down and likely they're permanently banned. By "gentle" I mean they reeaaaally don't allow witch hunting and people threatening them, because that's unnecessarily. They tell them what they did wrong, why it's wrong, and give the punishment, swiftly and without any confusion.

People getting caught doesn't deter them if they aren't punished, particularly on the internet where anonymity is rampant and you can jut do it again and again if the site isn't willing to be harsher with punishments.

Getting arrested by cops is scary because you are confronted with real life consequences and punishments. Not so much when it's the internet.

Well considering you can't tell if an imposter is a repeat offender unless they actually block the IP address you can't really say if it affects them or not unless you directly ask them.

Given it's such a frequent problem there (where as other art sites don't seem to have this issue), I'm very much going to go with they don't IP ban people.

There's also no way to know if the guilty parties are actually kids and not full grown adults taking advantage of a flawed system. Especially given PayPal is involved, and PayPal requires you be an adult to have an account (and most teen imposters want the popularity, not necessarily the money).

GetintheCab I'm glad that they deal with things so swiftly and that this has already been taken care of, but even though 13-16 is pretty young, it's well beyond the age of "you know better than that" and I don't necessarily agree with them "being gentle" about it. These sorts of things need swift and possibly harsh action or some people will never learn their lesson, sadly. :/

No, it's not that bad. You tell them and they will remove it.
This coming from a person who gets reports dealt with almost minutes of me reporting it. Just hit report, tell them the deal and link them to your real account. If you want, I can even do it. XD The mods remove dozens of things per hour.

Sweet! I couldn't find it so figured but wasn't sure if it was me. I understand since I have creepo stalkers too. :/ My method is to be everywhere, even if I'm not active. I understand yours though. So if it's seen anywhere else people should know it ain't real.

From what I've seen Amino has been pretty good about it. It's really unfortunate there's been a slew of issues lately
