Audience and Promotion of Gay Furry Visual Novel
8 years ago
Hello, guys, I think, I need to write this post, because I just need a help and the best way to ask you, the users of this site, who is already here not first year and know everything about this community.
If someone doesn't know, I'm creating my own visual novel "Summer Paradise!", the gay furry visual novel with muscle theme by brand "Strong&Furry". Simply put - pure and innocent love with big muscle beasts, that's the concept of VN. That's the first project and my first big work as a scenario writer and as a project lead. That's a chance to get the necessary experience for developing such product. Naturally, this is planned as commerce. That's why I need a help.
You, guys, as experts in your field, surely know everything about the audience, who covers you. And I think, that you can really promt who can be interested in such product. Is it even possible to attract the right audience for this game?
I know, that the main part of promoting is usually after releasing a demo version, but I think, that to start a process I need right now. Because the success of funding on Kickstarter or Patreon depends on it. If I won't have an interested players, the game not releases. I don't want one else unfinished furry gay VN, just can't bear it as an author.
Can you just give an advice, who can be interested in that, or where can I make a post about it... Or where I can talk about it, because talking with your future audience is important too. Unfortunately, in our community there are no chance to promote this product. No way. Almost impossible. That's why I'm asking for help.
Also the helping in choose crowdfunding platform will be great - if everyone will go well, I want to express the gratidute and support with physical bonuses and other nice things.

Yeah, I planned three languages from the start - Russian, English and Spanish. More languages will be good. The more coverage - the better.
This summer we will work on demo version, and will try to release it ASAP, but in favor of quality, because the first impression is the most strong, isn't it? And while we're working on it, would be great if someone can say something about that case.
Thank you very much! Soon I can provide more official art of characters and backgrounds!

I'd say that posting art concepts and such here, as well as on twitter would be a good start for spreading the word. Also sites like u18chan might not be a bad idea, just be braced for a few unrepentant assholes - that said, there have been a few other projects posted there and it's gotten the creators some genuinely useful feedback.
For choices of crowdfunding, Patreon would probably be the best option. Just make sure you don't fall into the trap of some other projects that promise a certain number of updates a month, and then post then two days in a row at the end of the month.
I'll do my best!
I think, the creating official pages on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook may be a good start, with official site.
About Patreon... Unfortunately, I don't know many about that, but what's with promises of updates? Of course, supporter should get updates about the project at least every month, because silence is terrible (I know it on my own skin). Keep track on promises, yeah?
So, for example, updates every two weeks... Or just talking about something while progress continues... Do anything, but not be silent...
Otherwise, it will negatively affect the project, probably.
So... Yeah, the first step is a demo version. Hope that players won'be so critical because of the quality, but I try to make it as acceptable as possible.
Maybe, I'm not the only one, who doing exactly the same thing here...
Thank you, anyway.
Но, думаю, об этом узнают все, если она появится в общем доступе.
