Whoa. Surprise book deal!

I once had an acquaintance (who also writes short stories) flippantly refer to short fiction as "The Valley of Nobody Gives a Shit".
And in comparison to novels, it's true. Selling a novel to a traditional publishing house is crazy hard enough; selling a short fiction collection is AH HA HA HA who do you even think you are, Stephen King?
So, since I am very much not Stephen King, please try to imagine how GOBSMACKED I was when Pink Narcissus Press (http://www.pinknarc.com/), a small independent publisher based outside of Boston, approached me in late April and said they wanted to publish a collection of my work.
After some back-and-forth negotiation, I signed the contract earlier this week. While I'm thrilled at the chance to work with a small press, see my work in physical print, and begin learning in earnest about marketing and book promotion, it does shift my focus away from the furry novel that I had been drafting. So I'm afraid that more furry work will have to wait.
Since FA is, you know, FUR affinity (and not "normal-people-goings-on affinity"), I'll likely keep mentions of the collection here to a minimum. But I will likely throw out a couple of links and key updates here and there--and certainly, when the time comes, a link to the finished product!
best,
