Tracing/ Recoloring art

If you're an artist that does that, unless its from a template that you purchased or were given by the artist that made it, i will no longer buy art from you. I just got some flak from another user, being accused of recoloring and reusing an icon that was originally made for them. If for some reason there's art that was made by that method, without permission, for me, please let me know.
I don't think a lot of people understand the severity of what they are doing with something as "innocent" [spoken from their perspective] as tracing.
There are artists all over the world who get caught doing this be it photography or paintings or writings etc, people are immediately fired and they'll "never work in this town again"
IF you find this out it should NOT be through another it should be through the individual who did it BEFORE you've paid you should know EVERYTHING that you deserve to know as the consumer.
Like, since it was on some meme page that i found through google, there's probably no way i could've found the artist,
