Do I need a fursona to be cool

Is that a thing I'm gonna need to get visibility as an artist round here? I'm no good at committing to that kinda stuff. I named myself antler bunny a year ago back in a time when i thought jackalopes were the dopest, and they're still pretty hella, but I don't really feel much connection with it.
I'm doing a lot of studying on self-branding and I started getting used to the idea of having a bodacious and recognizable web-presence. For sure, part of that relies on me being more present and posting more art than, like, 1 piece a month, but I gotta have some kinda solid image to put forth that represents my brand. Now that I'm thinking about this aloud I think I might be focusing too much on surface details and not enough on the meat of my brand.
I remember a time where I would joke to myself that if anyone ever asked me if I had a fursona I would tell them my fursona was a water bear or the moon. And, I'm sorry babes, but those are probably the only good fursona species.
Maybe I could make the moon joke into a bloodborne reference.

But being completely irrelevant and having no familiartiy with branding or fursonas, from my own personal expirences in discovering artists, I would like to say no, you don't need a fursona... that said I think that having a fursona would however make it easier to gain noteriaty. I have found Fursonas to be rather useful in promoting artists since they can be used by other artist and can introduce that artists followers to you. It allows, I think more oppertunities to promote yourself and your art if you have one... And I don't think there are any particular drawbacks to having one, other that it is difficult to change after you have attached yourself to one... so your pretty much stuck with it
So in summary, I don't think it will hurt you to have one, and when you have one I do feel you give yourself a greater ability to market yourself, but no you don't need one
Again, I have no experience in any of this other then then consuming art so you can take all of this with a grain of salt, but I have found a lot of artists solely through their fursonas
