Drawing and fractals update!
Only a handful of people will actually ready this, more like 1-3, but it's also nice to just get thoughts out there, ya know?
So, fractals. I'll get the most important bit out of the way first. While the fractals have slowed down more than I'd have liked, it's not without reason at least. I need to work on getting maybe at least one done a week, seeing as how that's more than a lil easy to manage. Not to mention I was playing with a style I kind of liked, granted it made things harder to manage in the program.
Drawing. I've been keeping up with this for at least a little bit every day since I stated I was gonna pick this up...Or least I think I mentioned that. Did I? If I didn't, I decided I'd get to into drawing around a month ago. Fractals are fun, but I despise how little control you have over how the come out. Drawing is a lot harder than fractals, but I also get more control over what I do, or at least somewhat for the time being. I've also made surprising progress when it comes to this. Everything I make is still shit, yeah, but putting it in perspective... A month and a half ago, I could barely draw a half decent looking stick-man. A drunk alcoholic with one eye could draw better stick-men than I could. Now I can actually draw a few things that look, well, decent for my level, which is something I NEVER thought I'd be able to do. Hell, I never thought I'd even be able to grasp the basics of lines, angles, whatever else I've gotten a simple grasp on so far.
And with that, I've been thinking of uploading monthly updates, or maybe every other week, or something. Some of what I've made has turned out decently (again, for my skill), and it'd also be nice to be able to look back in a few years and see how far I've come. I wasn't gonna do this for like, months, but it's been on my mind for a week or so.
Not to mention, the first few pages of head sketches I did are HORRIBLE. Like, laughably horrible. I can't look at them without giggling a little now. So I just might upload some of those too in hopes of someone getting a laugh out of them c:

Also, I know I said I work personally with photoshop, but I recentely tried Clip Studio Paint (Pro), and it's VERY cool -- definitely some features I prefer over photoshop and a lot less resource-intensive so less lag on bigger canvases. Very on sale right now, too, though of course there are also free programs as well.
"Drawing is a lot harder than fractals" Haha -- that's definitely a matter of experience; I had a hell of a time trying to make anything that didn't look like a hot mess!
It's so inspiring to see someone who's a good person actually achieving goals through practice. :D
Lookin' back at old stuff sure does do that. Doing it more than I thought I would. When I first started, figured I'd shove this notebook somewhere so I'll never have to see it, since I knew it'd be partly filled with god awful sketches. Now I just can't help but laugh some at what I made in the first week.
So Clip Studio Paint Pro is that much better than Photoshop? I read you were messing around with it, was the first time I've heard of it. I got Photoshop laying around here somewhere, I've got a little bit of experience in that. It used to be how I made my extremely early fractals years and years ago! Vastly different style than Apophysis. Either way, I'll have to look into both of these more when I'm actually close to being able to do digital work.
An now that I think back, I never realized just how much better I've gotten with fractals. Didn't think to look back at old fractals I got here and see how much I've learned and what not. Funny thing is, I'd probably wonder why the hell I bothered uploading something that, to me nowadays, "looks so bad".
