True enough! :D Though for.some reason my sonas rarely if ever talk/interact with my OCs (those that don't represent me). Guess I'm strange like that ^^'

Lol, I was worried people might get confused as well. But it seems a majority does understand the need for multiple sonas. This applies to me cos I don't really represent Reika as I am in RL.

That depends. As a guy with multiple characters, it does free a certain personality trait that you couldn't display on your main fursona, such as how you flirt.

That's my opinion.

I'm feeling better knowing a lot of people share this view! It strange, but I couldnt see my Reika being a warrior for example, even if personally I love swords and such. I'll just transfer that ability to another character. And that's like, totally okay ahaha

I have personality fursonas, and for me it feels more safe to put one of my really bad personality traits into a fursona, so have trapped it and it wont overpower me anymore. =)
all good personalities are my main and shields~ =)

I like this view! Like trapping bad negative energies into an external side which can't touch you. I never saw it that way, and it's enlightening to know I could try this too

Personality-based personal characters embody current, future/aspirational, or past traits. There may be characters with despised, anti-social, or for-fantasy-only traits.

If your main character only aspires to some trait, it's natural to have a character actually with that trait.

I guess you're right! Good to know that a lot of people share this belief on characters; I kinda knew about it but it feels good to talk it out! I was feeling so split up inside but now I feel better ^^ Thanks for your input!

Not sure what i can say to this cuz i tend to use fursonas on just what i feel like .w.' I tend to have multiple with each one having a little bit of myself
but i consider myself a shapeshifter of sorts

^I'm feeling better knowing other peeps do this too, making different chars for different emotions and having little aspects of ourselves in em. I thought I was being a little too widespread and that made me feel like Reika wasn't my main anymore. Knowing this helps <3

Reika being a shapeshifter~ I think her more of having multiple different lives in different universes, so she takes different shapes and names, tho essentially she is still the same person.

There's no rule about having to have one "fursona". Having a cast of characters to represent your kaleidescope of emotions is not uncommon on this site. If you feel having just one is too restrictive, then don't restrict yourself.

Alternatively, Reika could just be in different moods at different times, like we all are. Your characters, your choice.

I love this! I can't make Reiks exactly like me, simply cos I don't wanna ^^' But it's good to know that is okay to have alternatives to represent different aspects of me ^^

I have my main that is all me. Wears glasses. Similar build. Roughly as crazy and easy-going. Then I have two secondary ones that are 'what if' sonas. One is the 'what if' on if I was born the opposite gender. The other is a 'what if' for the other animal option I had considered in the beginning. Other than those, I just have a lot of characters I have created over the years.

That's an interesting way to see secondary sonas, what ifs and such! I never would have thought of that before x3
Lol, I'm never comfortable making my sona exactly like me, not cos I'm unhappy with myself but maybe cos...I dunno, just wanna make it more fantasy? Guess that's why I have so many alternatives to represent every other part of me.

When I first got into the fandom I just had Luthien and I swore she was going to be my one and only character. But there were a lot of limitations I placed on myself that I didn't feel comfortable breaking, mainly regarding getting adult art with other characters (I wanted to keep her exclusive to my mate at the time's character). But, seeing so many other artists who had "naughty" characters, I felt I needed one too. Luthien represented my more quiet, spiritual side, and her personality matched it. Her colors were beautiful and natural but muted, and I really wanted some bright crazy colors. Basically I wanted a bold, outgoing, flirty character that would balance things out. So I made Maraschino. :)
I've made a lot of other characters since but I don't see them as extensions of myself, they're just background characters to add variety to my personal collection. I love designing characters but I hate parting with them once I'm done. So I keep them. >u<
That being said, Luthien is the one I designate as my actual Fursona. Even though Maraschino represents a hidden part of my personality it's not one I let out often enough to really call her a Fursona, so I just refer to her as my secondary.

^This right here! I had much confusion over my sona Reika because she isn't as loud or outgoing as I am in RL lol. So I felt conflicted and was wondering if she was a good fit..

But seeing that its okay to put certain limitations on sonas for personal reasons (I wasn't really looking for Reiks to be exactly like me anyhoos) and that if I wanted to exhibit other traits of mine, just make alternatives or secondaries. Each of these, like you say with Mara, represents hidden or certain aspects of my personality. And that's like, totally okay! Lol, I.was more messed up abt it all than I should ^^'

in my case, Aphekt is my Sona, i would view him as me, same job, same hobbies (which is why i was a pain in your ass for his art). Though the other charcters youve worked on for me are important to me, they mostly deal with my writing, refferance art for my writing so i dont forget details. but there is a second Sona of mine, not nessassarily who i am, or who i wish i was. but the secondary Sona allows me to be someone else for a change, i can represent part of myself i cant express in the real world. both Sonas have a purpose in my life.

As for your Sonas. Reika in all her beautiful forms. i dont feel either suppliments you more than the other, so, i probably wouldnt separate the two into separate entities. but it all depends on how you feel about it, contemplation and understanding for what they mean to you. i can get real Meta when i drink cant i?

Lol! I got seriously meta on all this since I created Mae, Reika's skunk version. She is a lot more like me in terms of my outward personality~ a little louder, and more social. Reika is more me when I'm away from people, when I'm alone with myself. Thanks for your words in Reika btw :))

The concept of having a sona that is like someone else is quite interesting; I can't really do that as I need a super strong connection to my representative charas. Really cool tho!

GOSH YES I FELT THIS. Lol, I'm serious I felt so split up with all my different alts for Reiks and worried I was disconnecting to my main sona. Knowing that it's really okay to have one character represent your majority and others other emotions makes me feel less split up inside x'D

Guess Reika is basically the whole "balanced" out char which makes her my main sona. The rest are just subsidiaries with a different aspect of me.

I always thought it's an incredibly interesting idea that Reika can change her form. I like this so much, and additionally, it limits hoarding a thousand different characters in a clever way. (it even inspired me to try making Ana a raccoon <3)
PERSONALLY, I prefer to have just one fursona. I used to have 2 - one male, the other female - but I resigned. Fursona represents me and is my reflection on the internet; I wouldn't be able to use two or more different ones (unless it's just a shapeshifter). Though, I respect people with multiple sonas. That's their decision. I simply prefer to have only one main + various OCs.

I'm glad you feel that way about Reiks and her multiple alternates tho! I was worried I might confuse peeps over it, but seeing people's replies here it makes me feel better. I seriously doubt I will stop making alternates of her cos there are so many species I have yet to make her of lol

Your sona is lovely and also distinctive, esp with her blue jacket! I would instantly recognize her, even in art drawn of her by others. Helps people find you and your art as well. I think that's wonderful!
