I'm finding that a hard question to answer.
Mind you every time I've created a male character he's generally designed to fill some niche role.
Same sorta deal with the clothing I guess; as an example; Marcus generally wears alot of black with big stompy boots and a coat; purely 'cause he's typically a vampire. Even then I used a stereotype to fill the role. While LJorn is more muscular and tends to just wear baggy pants; again due to him stereotypically being 'jamacian' (Anthro-Iguana)
Not everyone's cup of tea but it's how I work. Find niche, use stereotype to work with; and work from there.

I'm a male IRL but I have a hard time drawing them xD;
Honestly, just use picture references and remember males aren't usually as lithe and slender as females.

Haha at least you can look at yourself for reference, you lucky male you! XD

I have a few references for guys, but there's not nearly as many good refs for guys as there are for girls :( Have you found a good source for male refs?

think of a woman, but this creature is based only on instinct and everything he does is practical, he does nothing if it has to do with feelings, he doesn´t understand them, he doesn´t get hints, all communication with this being must be direct in some way otherwise he did not get the message. more or less thats a man. Also Bromance is really important if he is not gay maybe he has a friend with whom he is really close and everyone think they are gay well that is Bromance, and yet they are not gay.

The rest is anatomy and fashion.

I've always been slightly better at drawing females because most of my characters were girls, but I took life drawing classes in school and that gave me a good start. It really just takes a lot of practice - the early stuff will suck but you'll get better at it the more you do it. I think what makes guys hard to draw is the fact that they don't have the easy curves that women have...you have to approach them with more of an angular drawing style, more blocky. And remember that men, just like women, come in many shapes - some are skinny and muscular, some are more short and stocky etc.
I would say worry more about getting the anatomy correct first - draw him naked, make sure all the parts fit together and look right, then tackle the clothes. You can reference clothing styles from any culture, perhaps one that fits the character's background or culture, or you can make up your own stuff - that's the beauty of fantasy art - it doesn't have to be "correct", it just has to be believable.

Ah I also took life drawing classes, I have been meaning to start it back up for months now, but it's pretty expensive here, so I will see :D I really enjoyed it, especially the time limits, made me draw more and think less XD
