You can post YouTube videos...technically! Kinda. You can embed them on journals with the [yt ] [ /yt] tags.

Yeah… that's not a post. The videos I (and animators, and other performers) make are submissions, not diary entries.

Fair. If there's one thing I recalled liking from another furry site or two was that a "submission" could actually just be something like a SoundCloud embed, if you wanted to. I would be 100% in favor of that. Could bring an entirely new wave of submissions (live performances, fursuit things, workshops, etc.) to FA. Yeah, journals don't really count.

Oh hell, at least my own comments? :P What if I were drunk commenting? I'd want to be able to go back and find them later, no? Now I have to hope someone responds to the bad puns and I can find them that way :D

Yeah, what Kamunt said. You can embed youtube videos into your journals, but I don't think it works in submission descriptions.

You can post Flash video technically, but the biggest problem with video is that it really, REALLY starts to take up a lot of storage space -- and swiftly. We do not have that storage infrastructure or bandwidth in place. Video takes up a lot more space than most people realize.

But the username search is definitely something I think we can try to work on. I don't think that'd be too difficult.

Oh, I know how much space it takes up… this is why Weasyl lets you post an embed from YouTube or Vimeo as a submission. Offload the heavy lifting, increase stats on non-furry, mainstream sites, AND keep the content fresh at the same time.
