Posting Art
So I've had a large art budget recently, but not a lot of will or motivation to write short stories to accompany said art. As I'm sure you can tell from my gallery, I love to post stories with the commissions I get, because I think that context adds quite a bit to the illustration and makes both parts of the art/story combination that much more exciting. Plus, these stories can be a lot of fun to write, especially considering the bondage-filled scenarios I'm usually commissioning ;)
But like I said, I haven't had the drive to match my pace of commissioning for the last couple of years, and I've built up a backlog of moderate size. And sometimes I get the feeling that dumping like 4,000 surprise words of story underneath an image can dissuade people from reading through, or from leaving comments about the art itself. (And I cannot get enough comments, of course, so maximizing those is always going to be a goal of sorts. >_> ) Depending on how long stories get when I write them with art, I may begin breaking them up into separate submissions, one the art, and one the story. This might also allow me to cut down on some of the art backlog by only posting a few words with each piece, and following up with the full story a bit later.
But what do you think? Keep posting on the slow side, with story and art in one submission? Still slow, but separated into a story submission and art submission? Or should I just start willy nilly posting stuff and think up stories later, at risk of moving on and never getting around to writing a story to go with a particular piece?
Also, I hope you folks like Adhara, because a lot of the art I'm sitting on is of her >3> This steady stream of anthro dragoness in tight situations is gonna keep on rolling!

I don't think every image *needs* a long backstory, but it's nice to read one every so often. I'd vote for posting stuff with thoughts about what the backstory could be, then seeing what people say about it and going from there (who knows, some comments might give you inspiration). You can always post the story later and link the image there.
I suppose that's an option. Again, I'm just worried about having the art slip out of my mind and taking any potential story with it as soon as I post it.
That is something I've done, though usually I did that when the story came first, was 5k+ words, etc. Perhaps moving the cutoff to a smaller number will help, and it's not like I don't know how to make thumbnails x3
Less biased suggestion: posting the art, and then doing stories later, when you have the motivation, might make it feel less like an obligation. You might also solicit story suggestions and ideas from commenters on the artwork, which might inspire you.
And while I did put that in as a possibility, the more I think about it, the less I think it's something I should do.
Especially the ones with bondage and/or chastity :3
When you got some art, you don't have to force story to it. Upload what you got, and when you get around to writing something, add that later :D
Or do it like you did with the "In need of..." series. You made three different posts with stories and one submission was the art it self :P
That story series is a different case. I wrote the first story of that sequence, then commissioned art to go with it. Which is usually not how I get commissions!
You get the artz and then write something to it?
One way to get stuff done. I think I'd first write something to get art to, because that way, the guy commissioned can imagine better what is requested... :)
(if that makes grammatical sense xD )
Maybe upload the art on its own, then if you do feel motivated enough to write something for it, upload it as a scrap? I dunno, just a thought.
I'm afraid I can't really think of any other suggestions there, sorry. :(
Even posting a couple of sentences to go along with the art is usually enough. Have a look at Slithers' posts, he does a pretty good job at describing the picture, and he leaves a lot to ones imagination. c:
Looking forward to that Adhara art >:D
guess she's got a storm coming #PrayForAdhara
Hehehee, good to hear :3 And I think she might need the prayers, in some of these trickier situations~
Personally I don't understand why people would be loathe to enjoy MORE content instead of less, but what do I know.
Still I like seeing what you create regardless of size. though I'd steer clear of posting a story attached to the art later on may not have the same impact as if it would have together. But that's my view and how I'm running my page. even if it means sitting on really awesome art just because I'm not happy with the accompanying piece to post it.
Can't wait to see more from you though and maybe some more of Ashar too? maybe
Yeah, though I might post them like, within a few minutes of each other. Just don't want to make people scroll down from nice art only to encounter like 5,000 words between them and the comment box x3
Ashar's in at least a few of these pending images! x3
I would echo :Cronicdragon: and suggest including a paragraph or two of teaser text with the image to set the context, linking to the larger work. For me, the big advantage of posting stories as stories rather than as an image description is that I can follow the 'Download' link, and save a copy for offline reading or whatever.
That said, if your muse has either run off (why didn't you tie her up?) or is too tied up to produce works (at least let her run around your cave in a chastity outfit!), it doesn't make sense to try to force a story. Doing so is a good way to either chase her further away or tighten the ropes tying her up further.
My musing on your dilemma would be to take the slow and steady route, putting together a 'good' story, then posting it along with one or more relevant pieces of art.
Though I prefer a bit shorter, one or two paragraphs is best. Long stories would switch me from watching pictures (with some subtitles) to reading a story (with one illustration), and personally, I just rarely read when I'm horny (even if I would enjoy the content).
Also to be honest, I do feel that you need to post more of your other characters besides Adhara art as in vary it up more. I would like to see a good Hueroc and Ellora story again. Or pt 2 of that tanraak piece you uploaded a while ago.
I do need to write that sequel to Nightmare though, jeez X.X
I know I am guilty of glossing over a lengthy description if I don't have the time or energy to read it and seldom return, no matter how well meaning I may be. But I also know I've been lured into reading by a tasty description (just like the back of a novel).
I'm sure you'll be able to tweak your uploads to where you like it :)
In the end, do what you feel good about doing. Anyone who reads isn't going to stop. ^__^
