Apparently Aloy is ugly?
I visited the Gamefaqs PS4 forum (yeah I know...I thought I'd try something other than the moronic PC board for a while and the PS4 forum is worse).
There's a huge movement of people there doing the diversity arguments and the prominent debate is why developers keep making ugly looking females. A lot of them saying making female models deliberately ugly is pushing a feminist agenda or some such nonsense.
The one that really baffles me is this notion that Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn is deliberately made ugly to help further an agenda of some kind.
Now...is anyone out there able to explain this? For one, I don't even get the point, but for two how in the name of buttered monkey nuts is Aloy ugly?

I mean...does this speak to a really, REALLY unreasonable idea of female beauty or what? I think she's has a beautiful face and she has a great personality to boot. I mean, I like girls with quirky faces anyway (I like Uma Thurman, for example. And Scarlet Johansen. And Cate Blanchett. All females with pretty but quirky faces, IMO). But I hardly look at Aloy and think "Ugh...talk about falling out of the ugly tree and hitting every branch on the way down."
Can someone explain this to me? It makes literally no sense to me.

Bigger picture. Didn't realise the one I posted came up so small...
I mean hey, if that's your bag then more power to you. But if you consider someone like Aloy *ugly* incomparison, then that seems bizarre to me.
noooo they must be trolls. shes not ugly
Out of game: it's hard to make accurate facial expressions, let alone programming them without very powerful software like LA noir and other things had. As such, they skipped on that or made it a bit wonky.
in game: [spoiler warning] the beings that raised the first generation of humans were holograms. they weren't programmed with very good facial expressions. As a result to us they're... off.
made her fatchanged her body shape because that had layers of sillyness wrapped up in it; it's an artificial construct INSIDE an artificial construct so being more "natural" (for an american I guess lol) is nonsensical, and it's not like this was a brand new un-established design they had to do extra work to thicken her, all of which points to current year shenanigans. But for this it looks like they're aiming for a more gritty/realistic look and making all the girls airbrushed barbie dolls seems out of place and possibly a little distracting particularly if they are hardened robot hunters or whatever. so I agree definitely a mountain from a molehill problem. It's not simply that the standards are unreasonable, (although they are), it's also that the standards are very restrictive.
