Hey uh I’m seeing what’s going on on the east coast with the torches and whatnot.
I’m fucking horrified. What’s happening to this country
No joke but I wanna cry. I wanna leave this country. How can so many people be.. like this.
I usually save this stuff for Tumblr and Twitter but just.... There were literally nazi salutes, swastikas, and torches. This isn't normal. We need to speak up.
Show love and care for one another this day. Be kind and tell those who are oppressed that they belong. But take no shit. Be soft, but don't be broken.
Find your inner Indiana Jones, Captain America, Wonder Woman.. and persevere. Fight. And keep on keeping on

I also heard that some of the police didn't step in until it escalated more. Why in the world they would do that is beyond me.
There were people. With torches. Doing nazi salutes. Don't derail this situation and make this about anything but a white supremacist rally.

Unfortunately: I think this outcome was coming sooner or later: it's a result of a number of factors, a significant one of which is the USA's two-party system. In practice: it might as well be a one-party system, because inevitably the elections pengelum back and forth, and the most effective strategy is "blame everything on THEM". Combined that with rampant corruption bordering on and diving full on into oligarchy, media dishonesty and sensationalism, and a generally ill-informed and attention-deficit-disorder levels of inattentive public and well. You wind up witha toxic mix that nothing good can come of.
The core problem: both the left and right in the US now are full of dishonest actors, one more than the other given the compulsive liar in chief now but you get the point: you have the legitimate neo-nazis on one side, antifa on the other, a bunch of trolls in in the peanut gallery, and everyone in-between on either side of the line can be called "just as bad as them" by the other side. And since everyone gets news from sources they agree with ideologically, and can block off anything they don't like in their social media feeds anyway, well: you end up with two groups who might as well live in alternate realities.
