Where did I disappear to?

General
About two weeks ago, I started getting sick, very, very sick, and I didn't realize. By the time I started "realizing" it, I was so far gone as to not be able to recognize that I should do something about it.
Due to an issue with a kidney stone, I developed an infection in my kidneys, the infection became sepsis (commonly known as "blood poisoning"), rapidly approaching complete renal failure.
I was delirious to the point of incoherence, unable to even explain what I was experiencing, or even enunciate simple issues or tasks.
At that point I am utterly utterly blessed and fortunate to have good friends that care about me: Cougr was worried about me, and called me, and when I wasn't making sense, he called MrHappy1987 and ask him to come take me to the hospital.
This began a day of getting moved rapidly between medical institutions: when the local urgent-care realized I was in need of more help than they could give, they transferred me to a hospital. The hospital ran myriad tests and determined that I needed specialized care they could not give, and transferred me to a different hospital.
I have spent the last nine days having my kidneys flushed with intravenous fluids, at the same time receiving massive regular doses of intravenous antibiotics. A stent was placed in my right kidney to aid in the clearing of kidney stones and infection. In a couple of weeks I'll need another operation to remove it. I will be on strong oral antibiotics for at least two more weeks.
I'm very fortunate in that apparently I managed *not* to lose an awful lot of kidney function.
I am, however, really worn-out: that kind of treatment regimen does not leave a ton of time for sleep: huge volumes of IV fluids mean you have to get up and piss every couple hours. Then every few hours someone comes to check your vitals. Change the IV bags. Give you other medicine. Take blood samples for testing. So for the next while I'm here but not gonna be very active, and gonna be slow to respond.
Take care of yourselves, folks, and watch out for each other: if it weren't for Cougr and Happy I might not be here today.
"Amusing" serendipitous moments in this whole mess: the first hospital didn't have a urologist, so they sent me to a hospital that did have one ...who already happened to be *my* urologist. Later on there was concern that the infection might have affected my heart, so they sent me to a cardiologist at the same hospital ....who already happened to be my cardiologist.

I wish you well and hope you get a good recovery.
If there is anything I can do!
...How did you have a kidney stone and not know it? When my brother got one he couldn't even sleep.
I'm glad that you got better. The world would be diminished without giant amazon hyenas
BUT
they caught it in time and while I did have to spend about 10 days in the hospital .... regular blood work every 6 hours and the first 5 days of nothing but IV fluids to keep me hydrated.. no food or anything because they didn't want to risk infection of the fresh surgery areas ( and I agreed 200%!!).. all in all, it worked out and I'm home now healing slowly.
I hope it goes really great with you and that you get the help and treatment you need to make sure you'll stay with friends and companions for decades to come.
please PLEASE take it slow and as you said, I know the tests and such don't leave you with much time to rest and try to recover.. take what you can and I hope the hospital staff will be as wonderful to you as they were to me when I was there at the one here in town.
Please take it easy, and get better soon. <3
Rest easy Wolf. Glad to hear you are still among us. When you are feeling better, do take a moment to celebrate. :)
So glad to hear that things turned out... well, not exactly well, but not as bad as they could have been.
*offers hugs*
I hope you'll be back at full health soon!
Take care of yourself, and rest up.
Fingers crossed for things going smoothly from here on out.
I've a European friend who's been through the same stuff, repeatedly. Keep taking care of yourself.
-Bitbok & friends all leave an assortment of tiny pixellated get well cards, flowers, and balloons on a section of a nearby desk.-
You now get better slowly if must. Everything besides that is not of importance!
Focus on recovery and rest, and hope you start feeling better sooner rather than later, all things considered.
FYI, if you have issues with antibiotics screwing up digestion because of wiping out gut bacteria, I've found yogurt can help restore them.
