Rant: Commissioning
8 years ago
I literally been having the worst luck of finding artists who communicate with you about your piece.
My first commission was ruined, giving one of my oc's claws and not paws becase they were uncertain what they were.
OKAY, that's where you come to me and talk about it and ask questions if my refsheet wasn't clear.
Even if she did have paw beans on em.
This commission was a ych, and it wasn't being covered by anything. It was a multi person ych, but the person infront of me had a big tail and covered a good chuck of my oc's body. Like it's so IRRITATING. I just want to get a decent commission. I decide to get a commission for my boyfriend and I. Nothing big, nothing crazy just a little chibi. Well I get a sketch and it's cute to me, and I did give the okay to continue to the LINEART. I showed my bf and he wanted to be resized just a bit. He thought his head was a tad big. So I decide to message them hey, are you able to resize. I thought it would be no problem, because I resize all the time and it takes two seconds. They flat out told me no, the lineart was finish. But.. that makes it easier to resize?? I tipped them aswell so I thought it would at least be KIND enough to do that one thing. "I can't right now, I'm at work" Iunderstand that, I'm saying when you get back to it. I also asked to see the lineart. I hate when artists don't show progess. within that hour of messaging back and forth, arguing about this resizing problem.They continue to finish it. Without showing me the lineart and while at work??? what you just told me you couldn't get to it. Now I had to go back and resize it to MY liking because it was MY commission. I'm just lividly angery at this point and kinda of tired trying to support artists if they don't want to comminucate at least nicely. Especially If i tipped you.

Like maybe i just OVER update but i always at least send a sketch wip and then a line art wip
And if im REALLY NERVOUS about your characters markings i may even send a flat colored wip???
I feel like its much better to send MULTIPLE UPDATES and make sure things are going well before i get to a point where something CANT BE FIXED ?
it takes more time, yes, but its also kept me from ever having a commissioner demand a refund or slam me for unprofessional behavior online...
It just seems worth the extra effort to me i dunno ;^;
The person had originaly agreed with them on a due date for it and was MONTHS past it. like i think 6 months or so it was crazy
And they messaged them about it and requested a wip like "i need to at least know youre working on it???"
The person sent them what they claimed to be the "finished" image and it was WAY under quality. it looked AWFUL.
And when my friend pushed about it they admitted to rushing through it, telling them "YOURE the one who said you wanted it done. i have people way ahead of you on my queu that are WAY more patient and im even doing free sketches for them in return for how PATIENT they are! "
Even tho they never asked for them to rush the image
they just asked for a wip
It was insaaane
