Life Update [Sept 3rd]

A small update \0/ I'm terribly bad at these, hahah.
Life's kinda thrown me for a loop the last two weeks, so I apologise for the sudden absence. I've still been trying to respond to messages/comments etc to the best of my abilities, but I'm only just starting to get back onto my feet. Commissioners should be expecting updates in their inboxes within the next couple days.
On happier matters:
It's my 24th birthday in 11 days! I'm gonna be old! Looking forward to it!
As a present to myself, I finally bought myself my first BJD (which should hopefully be arriving mid- to late october). Absolutely cannot wait. If I can remember to in my excitement, I'll hopefully be making an unboxing video, since it's from a one-man company in russia.
On the topic of presents for myself: does anyone know any artists that are good at angara/kett/other ME-races that I might not know about and take commissions? I've got my eye on a couple artists I wanna commission in the future but I'm always looking for more. Need more art of my babes and don't have the time to make all of it myself. :c

I'm hoping to get a serenade doll at some point, as well, but that's a little further off as I get over my anxiety with ordering extremely expensive things from outside of the EU.
I don't actually know any people from inside the hobby n n; what kinda dolls do you have?

I have mostly Supia's (Haeun, Roda and Lana) and a teeny Pipos kitty Haha I use to have a lot of them though. These are the ones I couldn't bare to sell. I've been kinda out of the hobby a few years now. Some times I still look at them and have the urge to take pictures > 3>
I really love them too, I've just heard not-so-great things about their customer service, hahah. If I do ever manage to get over my anxiety, I'll probably be getting the Nova sculpt.
Supias are lovely! I've been considering getting a Haeun to turn into one of my characters, but I'd like a double-jointed body without the weird hip-joint >w>;; I know that the MiniSups don't have the hip-joints, but their faces are too baby-like for my liking (especially since their bodies are still mature). I'd love to see pictures of yours if you don't mind sharing!
She is the one with the little teeth, right? So sweet! <3 Its sad to hear about their customer service though.
My Haeun is my baby! I love her to tiny bits! I have the double jointed body for 2 of them and an old Ariadoll body for my Roda because she is suppose to be kinda shorter.

I feel like her face sculpt might work really well, too. It would probably be an absolute nightmare to make/get a wig for her, though x0x;;; but could be so worth it....

My Roda is getting a similar face up, her old one was kinda old and rubbing off *___* Haha
She is so lovely and dainty! She would make an adorable Haeun! and she has teeny teeth, too! And there are a ton of custom wig makers on Etsy that do incredible work!
The ears are kind of a pain in that they fall off really easy though. I have lost them more than once! and for some reason the magnets don't like to remain glued in. But otherwise I love them! You can change them out easily too.

And yeah, I saw that about the ears in a body review. Even the human ones kept falling off constantly, hahah. Maybe it'd be possible to buy stronger magnets to put into the ears. We shall see! First, my faceless one needs to get here, hahah. Need to stay responsible with my monies.
And yeah, I wonder what I'd do about the wig. I'd need a good 40 or 50 cms, I think that's only available in mohair or nylon. Alpaca doesn't grow that long I don't think, hahah.

I've seen people make alpaca ones longer but it often looks a little chunky, I guess? Because it still has the strip that the hair is connected to. Actually, there is another fiber really close to it in softness, only it doesn't have curl...I am at a loss for the name of it right now, but I'll let you know when I find it again!

and I'd love to, but I'm not sure I have the confidence, hahah. plus I'd need all the supplies. (my main hiccup here is getting my hands on a proper sealant - I do work traditionally on occasion so I have things like watercolour pencils and pastels. but msc is so toxic and I'd have to order it from another country :I I don't know.)

and yeah, discord is a messenger app kinda like skype. Just better, hahah. been using it for a couple months now, never looked back.

MSC can't even be shipped here in Canada. Haha its like a horrible dollie smuggling ring to get it in. A mask is definitely a good idea when working with it, though, it is pretty bad. I've seen terrible things happen with Testors dullcote, so it might be worth it...? I haven't heard of a good alternative yet.

And yeah, a face mask should honestly always be worn with anything that gets into the air. Even just regular paints. I've heard of several alternatives, but they all require an airbrush, and that's really expensive :')
Right! I forgot airbrushes! They make for such nice blushing though * 0*
I'm kinda sad actually, apparently a lot of the doll people I use to talk to have also left the hobby. I mean they kept their dolls, but don't do anything with them. The girl I asked about her wig supply site can't find the link any more. > n< Sorry. I will let you know if I ever do dig it up though, or any amazing tutorials.
