Mephit

They say that traveling together tests a relationship. Mephit furmeet was Aaron and I's first vacation together and I feel like we passed with honors. We had some rough patches the past few months because of grief and loss. Plus I had recently lost interest in LARPing which broke Aaron's heart since it was how we met and something we bonded over.
I feel like the furry fandom and Mephit was a big healing step for us. I had only recently become a furry and thought it would be fun going to a fur convention. Three years ago he told me he would never pressure me to be a furry, but here I was going "I'll pay for it, I don't care! Let's go!!"
We met some amazing people. Over the weekend we both developed so much as artists, furries, and lovers. We are even saving money together to purchase fursuits so we can contribute to the hugs for charity. Thank you so much to the friends we met. Thank you so much to our new furry family.
We're already planning for Mephit 2018. <3

And I can sort of relate on a few levels to what you posted. My husband and I met, because we were both professional artists in the fandom. He has over the past few years given up art, sort of hating it with a burning passion, and it has left me feeling a little bitter. It was the cornerstone for the longest time of how we connected as people! He still openly comments on my art, and talks about technique, color, depth... art things. Talks all about them, but handing him a piece of paper and pencil will set him off... it's kind of dumb IMO.
Once it was removed I had wondered if maybe the relationship would fall apart, but it didn't thankfully. We were allowed to really see what we were made of as a pair as we were forced to dig a little deeper, and helped us to see the many other things that hold us together. Things I don't think we'd really have looked into otherwise.
My Raccoon and I are also a introvert + extrovert combo too. It took us really coming to understand what that meant to find our groove. Frankly, finding someone you can grow with seems to be the key to a long lasting relationship. If everything about you fits together that's great, but what happens when a part of you branches out in another direction? Think of it as two trees growing next to each other, and the complexities of that. The roots have to have room to grow, one can't block the other from the sun, and to some people you'll look like one tree but you will always be two... they never morph together.
You two crazy kids seemed like a good pair to me. I loved talking to both of you. I hope as you explore the fandom you enjoy it. There are certainly portions of it I don't care for, but for the most part it's AWESOME!
