Apple Special Event September 2017
So, Apple broadcast their first Special Event in the Steve Jobs Theatre about a couple of hours ago. I thought it was amazing! Seeing all the new products they're planning to release later this month and in October.
Apple TV 4K - Looks great! Brilliant plan to work with major film studios to bring their 4K HDR movies to Apple TV, and also upgrading the films that people had already purchased from HD to 4K HDR for free.
Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular - Looks to be a useful idea. Possibly less chance of losing your iPhone whenever you're out and about as you can leave it at home and only bring your watch with you.
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus - Great new update to the iPhone line-up. I especially love the updated camera on the Plus model.
iPhone X - The main event. The one that everyone was hoping to hear about.
Amazing design, Expensive price. I loved the design on this new iPhone, full edge-to-edge display. It may not be the first phone to have display that reaches the edges of the phone, but it certainly does it well. Any content on the phone uses the screen perfectly.
Face ID, the new method of facial recognition unlocking on the iPhone, seems to be one of the best parts about the phone IMO, though I will wait to see some real world usage of it to gauge its effectiveness before I make any full opinions, but the way it was shown at the end of the iPhone X stage demo looked pretty good.
The "Animoji" looked great and it was entertaining seeing Craig Federighi pulling faces to demonstrate that new feature.
Finally, wireless charging. Apple have finally decided to add wireless charging functionality to the iPhone X.
Overall, I think the Apple Special Event for September 2017 in the Steve Jobs Theatre went really well, lots of rumours and predictions being proved to be correct, though only time will tell how good the products that were announced actually are.
