when i was writing more prolifically, i would use Third person perspective when i was writing about characters other then myself as the protagonists, and first person when the characters were based off of me more, or if i wanted to imagine what happens to the character as happening to me, i would use first person.

so for me at least, it depended more on circumstances of the story than preference, though i favor first person for a simpler reason as well, i like imagining all the transformy things i write about happening to me anyways so itcomes more naturally to write in the first person perspective lol!

Similarly, I really enjoy the first person because it helps to place myself in the pov of my character which in a way helps keep me in tune with what my character would think and feel. Not to mention all the tf fun too as if it were occurring in some part on my end. xD

Which particular circumstances in the story would you feel third person is more comfortable or appropriate for you? I feel I could write more... raunchier aspect in third better than in first, and scenes where physical actions are prominent are better for me in third.

more than two major characters is when writing in third person makes more sense to me, so you can better relay what's going on with every character from an omniscient over watch perspective rather than telling the perspectives of everyone around based on the observations of a single character in first person, ive also experimented with using both perspectives in the same story however, like when i'm switching from the point of view of the main character (in FP) to watching what another character is doing somewhere else in the setting(in TP)

i will say i dont claim to be an expert writer in any sense, sometimes it's just a matter of choosing what perspective just FEELS right for the overall story y'know, i've actually written things where i finished all the writing, looked it over while editing and spellchecking and wasnt happy with the original perspective i chose, then i went through changing all the perspectives from first to third or the other way around.

and in my experience, second-person perspective only really works for CYOA-type stories, ive tried using it before once on a whim and its more difficult to work with.

You sure second person was considered. You would know because you see it being done here, but it might also be awkward putting words in your mouth and thoughts too. :p

Interesting, when I rp I always go for the first person route unless my partner finds it uncomfortable or keeps talking in third person, then I switch to third person too. I think it comes down to whatever you’re comfortable with doing. I mean even if you choose a third person view to tell the story, it doesn’t mean that the story will be bad.

I say go with what you enjoy the most and the story will be great either way

I appreciate the advice! When it comes to short story descriptions on FA thus far, I've been using the first person narrative as it feels a lot more personal with the character recounting it from their perspective. Though a third person is a lot more objective and much better if there are a lot of others characters and/or action going on that affects the my character. Also narrative approach happen to be significantly easier overall in terms of story writing for me, though limited within the scope of my character.

With RP, I tend to use 'you' and refer myself in third person because I'm considering what my partner sees from their perspective, and usually it makes for the play more intimate. This only works with a single individual though. Though I may transition into third if the other prefers third overall.
