For those interested my character is inspired by Orochimaru from Naruto and heres a rough outline of my story so far
Character story: A man who comes out of the vault obsessed with revenge, he tracks and kills kellogg without meeting any of the main factions in the game , happens into nuka world shortly after, begins the raider playthrough at nuka-world, the strange and extreme characteristics of the gangs, as well as his own mental state declining from his constant fighting and killing, He would eventually lose touch with reality. Accepting the manipulations of porter Gage easily, He barely eats or sleeps, utterly obsessed with the restoration of nuka world, and by extension what he hopes to be his past life. Eventually he manages to complete the task and realizes after the lights come on, that the rust and radiation is still there. As the gangs he fought for this entire time, congratulate him, then threaten him to continue making them money, or else, he starts to accept the reality of his world. He soon departs, venturing through the common wealth alone under the guise of expanding raider terrority, he hears of the minutemen, and the railroad . Each with a Noble goal, and many sacrifices trying reach them. He reflects on his actions and eventually decides to try and join the factions. Leaving Porter Gage in charge of Nuka-world in his absence. However, after helping Preston Garvey and his survivors out of concord, and hearing all about the minutemen, to his surprise Preston Garvey has learned of his Identity of overboss. A position he hasn't been active in for months now. He is shocked by the Prestons lecture on the evils of raiders. And agrees to wipe them out, hoping that in the future Preston will allow him to join the minutemen. After following the freedom trail, He struggles with the questions Desdemonda Poses him, and though he is given a trial mission, he finds Himself wandering Back toward Nuka world. He realizes that since leaving the vault he hasn't made any decisions of his own, simply reacting to the world around him the simplest way he could think of. Unsure, and seeking to avoid his high ranking assosciates, he wanders into the marketplace for the first time. He meets Mackenzie, who urges him to follow through with Preston's plan. Reminding him that he alone had restored Nuka world, (for RP reasons, I left porter in charge while I go on these long expeditions into the park, my character having been 100% the porters willing Pawn, ) After defeating the raiders, he reflects on his experiences, the last few years since waking from the vault, he'd been controlled and directed by the needs of these Raiders. Simply a muscle for them to push forward into nuka-world, seemingly devoid of free thought. He realizes freeing the traders of Nuka-world had been the first thing he 'd decided to do himself. Sure, Preston and Mackenzie had pressed him to do so, but for reasons he couldn't deny the more he thought about. He begins to appreciate the simple life, Building settlements with the minutemen, and spending more time in the free Nuka-world, and his new homes, he realizes that, despite the events of the great war, people are still good inside, and humanity has arguably gained more empathy from their suffering. He decides to improve himself, so he can improve the world around him. He focuses on making his settlements safe, and efficient. He studies hard , expanding his intellect until eventually he beings to create advanced energy grids, and water purifiers for his settlements. Eventually he happens across Paladin Danse, and his party under attack by ghouls. After aiding them he introduces himself and quickly see's his old self in Danse, obsessed with his mission, yet tethered by the bonds he shares with his squad. He is also drawn by the BoS's impressive arsenal, and bravado about protecting humanity. He puts in extreme effort for Paladin Danse, wanting to see how Danse would pursue his goals, compared to himself. After quickly climbing the ranks he gets more involved with the elder Maxson, can't help but thinking of himself during his time of Overboss. As the railroad and BoS begin pressuring him to make a move against the other, he is finally convinced to Oppose Maxson and the brotherhood, When Paladin Danse is shockingly outed as a synth, stripped of rank, and the sole survivor is ordered to execute him. He realizes with Horror that Danse's situation was identical to his own, when he first emerged from the vault, losing his home and his family. He manages to stop his friend from comitting suicide. However when Maxson shows up, Ranting about his lack of humanity the sole survivor feels himself slipping to his old tendencies, and prepares to Kill maxson. Suddenly Danse offers himself in the sole survivors place snapping him back to reality. After pleading with maxson, Danse is spared, with Maxson stating this was the only time That the sole survivor would be allowed to oppose him. Having joined simply to observe and support his friend, the survivor leaves the organization along with Danse. Realizing that Maxson was much more dangerous, then he had been as overboss of Nuka-world.
He soon realizes that the institute is far worse then even the brotherhood, killing and experimenting simply to do so, and begins focusing on defeating them in The nuclear option.
I haven't decided if I should end with the Minutemen, or the Railroad yet, though heavily leaning toward the minutemen.
