Hey guys!

So a lot of artists offer....like 1 big commission type generally right? like something that price far higher then the rest...
Well I noticed I dont actually have a commission type that really offers my full... FULL dedication to..ya know?

I have tried to price my commissions at prices that most people can afford and is fair for me for my time. I dont actually have a commission type I offer that is a "ima spend DAYS on this thing and refine it as much as fucking possible" because I honestly dont think anyone could....afford that for one commission..?

So I was wondering... would anyone be willing to get said commission type from me, or at least see it? I would not feel right if I did it with an OC or a personal project of mine because I dont want the example to possibly be better then what my commissions would turn out like. (For example, I know my characters very well, im probably going to go and put more effort into an original piece of mine then a commission of a character I have no personal feelings towards)

So my question is... how would I go about figuring out said example? I could do a raffle but if I spend a total of... lets say 20 hours on the commission, i worked for free when I could have maybe done 4-5 smaller commissions in that time..

my idea for the image would more or less be painting it, aka no line art. would make for a very realistic outcome.

Many artists I work with offer, at most, a discount on the example image commissions they take on. Raffling the slot for free should be out of the question, that's too much of your time just to get options for characters.

So are you looking at pricing this in the $200 price range, or higher perhaps?

probably around that. I wouldn't quite know how to price it if I dont know how long I took on said commission

if I was to use my Harley as an example for the pricing as well.... if I give myself a bit over minimum wage and if I round my time to somewhere near 20 hours (at this point I forgot exactly how long it took but i know it was two days of at least 8 hours/day) I would be about at the $200 range.

I just dont know if people really offer commissions that large besides big name artists lol If I did commissions that large id do like a half up front, half once finished.

now if we talking back grounds being involved I have no clue what the price would end up being....but my rough estimate for all my commissions is $10/hour so I'd probably try to stick to that as closely as possible.

I do see a few artists offering that kind of stuff in that range. Not sure how big name they are anymore because I kinda stopped paying as much attention to that. That's a reasonable way to work out the payment, though a little more generous than what I'm used to.

ah, fair enough....guess id have to just try it out some day and see. I'd probably give a bit of a discount for the person... maybe something like "get 20 hours, for just $150!" and see if that will at least get me an example and also give me a chance to see if 20 hours is enough to do what I want to said commission...

You have given this a shot before - you held an auction for an 'all out' piece. I only remember this as it was my partner who won it, and our characters in it. Though I love the piece you did then, it lacked some things your other commissions had despite not being 'full out' pieces. So if you are going to offer it again now that you've improved further and such, I'd make sure you're happy to do the piece asked for. Make sure it's something you seriously enjoy and want to offer. If you're going for a set price (I believe we paid around $250 for ours) don't do it as first come first served. Make it something you enjoy and want to draw as your example so you can really give it your all.

I don't quite remember off the top of my head the one you are talking about but I know I want to paint this one, so no line art :)

First come first serve probably would not work on this type, you are right.

Ah yes, this was two years ago so that makes sense. Yeah, I'd like to say I have improved a lot since then so I want to try my hand at it again sometime. Maybe not offer multiple characters this time though cause I remember struggling a bit on posing on that one.
