Well fuck.

Took my car to it get inspected today and they couldn't inspect it because it has work that needs to be done before it will pass. Thank god this shop is really nice to people and don't scrape your sticker until after you pass inspection.
But they quoted me about $715 of work on this car for two parts. He quoted the labor itself for nearly $300. So I'm gonna see if my brother can do some work on it for cheaper or get the parts cheaper.
More realistically I'm looking at about $350

Make sure to order the parts you need yourself! Anything they quote you will be waaay overpriced. Hope all goes well!

OP
My family has always fixed our own cars and all that through my entire life, but we always go to this one parts dealer who's local who is absolutely the cheapest you can get in western NY and way cheaper than online and that's actually who they quoted the part from so it's more than likely that the price of the expensive part is pretty absolute, The labor cost we MAY be able to get out of but probably not because it's frame work that's holding the engine in so we need a lift and stuff we don't really have. Soooooo we may be stuck pouring $600 in that alone. The Calipers are an easy fix no big deal but the main problem is putting the new frame work in.

Oh man, that's great to hear! You're pretty lucky to have connections like that. Oof, yeah, anything needing an engine lift gets pretty pricey pretty quick. Keep us posted on how it goes!
