Well fuck... Pc problem.

So my computer has been stuck on the "starting windows" prompt for the last hour... So that's wizard I guess. Time for bed and hope it sorts itself out when I get up... If not Im screwed.

have you tried restarting it in Safe mode? sometimes that helps if not check your RAM and Bios. when in doubt re-install Windows

Safemode wasnt an option even after 8 forced restarts. I think its the drive, that thing is going on 9 or 10 years old and was from a mid range laptop with a life expediency of 4 or 5. I had it doing a factory install with most my things over on the d drive but it was taking hours so I went to bed... Which is a sign on its own.

yeah that is bad. did the reset help or is the drive completely shot?

Reset complete, my back up hhd is still missing, and its a chore to update drivers but it IS technically operational. Keeps hanging up when booting up still. Now to gestillsetting back and saved.

good to hear you want to check your connections to your back up drive if anything use your windows disk and run that to see of it can fix the hang up issue
