It looks like it may be a Category 1 by the time it hits. It's very well organized with a clearly defined and strong eyewall, so most of the effect of the storm will be on the southern and eastern parts of the storm. Category 1 storms will usually result in loss of power and some mild flooding in low-lying areas. Expect some tree damage as the heavy rain will soften the ground and cause trees with weaker root systems to give way to the wind. By the time the storm's eye makes landfall in Ireland, it should be a very weak category 1 with the storm no doubt being not much but a low end tropical storm by the time it hits Scotland. I live in Florida and have been through a ton of these. Honestly everyone should be fine with proper preparations. If friends/family lose power during the storm, make sure to limit refrigerator/freezer access in order to prolong the life of cold items. Each time the fridge/freezer is opened it warms up. Best thing is a good amount of canned/dry goods. In worst cases make sure to fill bathtubs in the house with water as a means of flushing toilets/water source. Extreme loss of power can cause city/community water supplies to be unable to pump water to houses or for home well pumps to be unable to supply water for the same purposes.
