A Letter To The CBC

I just sent the following complaint to the CBC. It's about a program from their long-running "Ideas" series called "Sex, Truth and Audio Tape."
Between 37:01 and 37:09 in the program, a female voice said --
"You have Furries? That's a whole 'nuther wide world of people who have some kind of like animal, or anthropomorphic incorporation in their sexuality..."
Although this is technically true in a way and in some cases, it implies that the Furry fandom is about sex. It is not.
To put it briefly, Furries, (as they call themselves), are fans of cartoon animals; Mickey Mouse, Buggs Bunny, etc. Now it's true that most Furry fans have "fursonas," cartoon animal characters that represent them to other fans. Bear in mind also that Furry fans are mostly young men and women dealing with their sexuality. Of course, they are going to prefer porn that reflects their other interests as well. Google "porn" and you will see sexual images that reflect every fandom, hobby, and profession in the world and some that you wish you'd never heard of. But baseball, plumbing, and politics are not fetishes... even if there are fetishes about them... and neither is Furry.
I listened to this program as a podcast. Yes, I am a Furry fan myself.
If you're curious, you can find "Sex, Truth and Audio Tape" at this address. -- http://www.cbc.ca/radio/ideas/sex-t.....cape-1.4369644
The Furry reference notwithstanding, it's actually pretty good.
Should I have done this? What do you think?
