I would have never of guess you were red/green color blind.

I don't want to sound like a bumbling fool here or sound stupid, but how do you make such beautifully colored works with such a trait? That leaves me very confused.

I gotta jump in here.

We don't see in black and white (not red/green sufferers anyway).
Dependant on the person, colours can just merge - certain shades can all appear the same.
You'd probably (and well, you are) amazed at what you can achieve despite not really being able to see it properly.
We have more than enough clues to make educated guesses, and most of the time - thanks to furry being so weird - it sometimes goes completely unnoticed :)

I didn't assume it was black and white. I knew some one who explained that he saw all the colors at once in everything, but the color that the object was stood out a little more. He had a hard tim elocating his car because it was a brown red and it was a Ford. So many that color, make, and model round here.

I was just curious on the method you use to get everything right and manage to make it look so awesome despite having your trait. I find it fascinating.

And yes, I can totally understand the last bit you said. XD Furry is weird that way. ;)

Sphelx does a good job of explaining it. For me, its all about understanding some rules about how to use colors and some tricks to help me not accidentally use the wrong color. My palatte tray has an order to it that I put my colors in. Every now and then, I still screw up and dab my brush in some green tinted stuff when I meant for something redder.

I think my paintings might be more vivid simply because I'm over compensating. By trying to get things to look right to me, they look more saturated to folks with normal color vision.

I tend to get subtle shades of red, green and brown confused. This especially happens if there are very small areas of them. I can tell that something is reddish or greenish way easier if there's a huge amount of it present. Further, I will mistake yellowy green for yellow on occasion.

I've always wanted to see you do a work where you're painting the colors exactly how you see them...

Both of you did an excellent job in helping me understand. I'm just in awe that you already do beautiful work and that it means even more that you have to work harder on each on. Talk about soul going into your work. :)

You told me once before you were red-green colorblind but for some reason I always forget it. Probably because your art doesn't reflect it at all.

Im kinda tint blind which makes working with big bundles of similar colored wires difficult. And I have gone with a Fu Manchu myself. Been getting complements on it so I think I will keep it. I cant stand letting my mustache get too long as it seems to absorb everything I drink then drip down my chin.

muley get yourself a set of gels (coloured films for stage lighting) that are a match to the spectrumn you are colour blind in you can then use those as filters to do small detail work and such (experiment with the filters and a cheap old monocal.)
we did this for an artist freind of mine back in highschool and it worked like a freaking charm.

Then he might be able to read those gold plates I found.

Me, too. And the Burton-Depp-Carter triad keeps me from seeing a few movies that I've heard are actually pretty decent.

Every drawing, every painting is really just practice for the next.
