Furpacolypse Recap

Scratchings on the Wall
Furpacolypse 10/26 - 10/30
"It's time to put on fursuits
It's time to dawn on Halloween costumes
It's time to light the lights
It's time to shake tail feathers and wag tails
It's time to meet the furries at Furpacolypse tonight."
I blame my coworker talking to me about the Muppet Show. Naturally, after our conversation, I had the show's theme song stuck in my head. I am surprised I remembered it. XD
This long weekend was certainly filled with mirth and mayhem and a whirlwind of poor planning nuttiness. It seemed to have quite a few hiccups and a few things that made it seem deader than prior conventions, but I didn't let that stop me from having a great time.
There is so much to say about Furpacolypse 2017, but I will briefly recap it:
Thursday:
-Drove in wretched rainy conditions and checked in during mid-afternoon.
-Scouted around the new layout of the convention and was disappointed they placed the headless lounge, not by the ballroom, where the dances and masquerade is, but behind Registration. Fail. =( Supposedly, there was a second smaller headless lounge in the Ballroom, but it was poorly advertised and some of the staff did not know where it was. *end rant*
- Assisted the staff and other volunteers at Pre-Registration.
-Hung out with roomies.
Friday:
- Reconnected with roomies, pack sis, pack bro, and many long-term friends.
- Commissioned artists in both the Artist Alley and Dealers Den.
- Smash Brothers and table-top gaming
- Dinner at Sushi House with friends. If you have never been there and you like Japanese food then, I recommend trying it next year.
- River and I swam in the pool, where we met two mermaids, and relaxed in the hot tub.
- Best of all Hazel's maker,
threadandclaws, wicked surprised me when she presented me with my updated version of Hazel. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I honestly thought I would not be fursuiting at the convention because both suits were being worked on. Luckily, I had Lucky's feet paws to use with Hazel instead of wearing sneakers.
-Scampered around the convention showing off Hazel
-Gave a massage.
- Played Werewolf with friends and associates until the wee hours of the morning. Surprise surprise. =)
Saturday was a blur:
-Arrived late to fursuit parade lineup. One of my roomies, Bongo, who was dressed as the Dread Pirate Rabbits, and I snuck into the fursuit parade.
-Parade ending group picture was shorter than last years.
-I love dressing out of the norm and making others smile or laugh. It is a liberating and uplifting experience, inciting positive emotions in both strangers and those I care about. Being able to do that, brings me such incredible sweet joy.
-Masquerade and Costume Contest. Congratulations Duff on winning 3rd place in the costume contest!
-Wandered around the convention wearing Hazel
- Watched friends perform in the Dance Competition: Way to go
Rsrallygrl and
Gale_Frostbane!!
- Ate at Sushi House with friends.
- Gave a massage.
- Danced at the rave.
- Talked with a nice guy
AHHb, who I helped persuade him to get to know more and interact with more people by playing Codegames, which was being played by a couple of my friends, then I introduced him to the game Werewolf (the poor guy lol).
- Spent more time hanging out with more special friends, you know who you are. until the wee hours of the morning. ^_^
Sunday:
- Fursuited
- Checked in at Dealers Den to pick up comissions
-Hung out with my ferret sisters Skittles and Oreo. They were adorable dressed as maids. I hope they perform in the dance competition next year.
- Participated in the Fursuit Games as a sub for the purple team in my favorite game of Musical Chairs. I vaguely remember diving for a chair and falling on someone. Playing musical chairs in fursuit with tunnel vision was not easy, but it was a lot of fun, even if I lost.
-Gave free chair massages to fursuiters at Fursuit Games
-Fursuited
-Ate a steamed Hawaii-5-O burger at Ted's Restaurant, which is down the street from the convention. Try it!
- Danced at the rave with my roomies :Sorahusky: & Neo.
-Helped stop drama.
-Crazy room party, which I evacuated when drama began. XD
-Played an anime tabletop card game, called Tanto Cuore, with
Malachyte,
Saucy,
Mechsae, and someone else (forgot his name). They were a great group to get to know. I felt crummy for my slow comprehension during the game. Thank you for being patient with me. ^_^
-played Werewolf until the wee hours of the morning.
- Sadly, the strong winds and heavy rains caused many roof leaks all around the convention: Artist Alley, Dealer's Den, above the pool, the Zoo, the door near the Zoo, The Gaming room, and my room. It soaked one of my roomie's laptops and Hazel. =(
Monday:
-Checked out of hotel.
-Hung out with some really good people
-Spent most of the day with my pack sis River until the storm in Vermont abated.
P.S. I spoke with the Chairman Dark and proposed an idea of me giving free massages next year to the congoers and staff and the tips I earn I will give to the charity for War Dogs. He liked that idea for next year.
Over all, it was a pretty good convention!
If work complies, my next convention will be ANE next year, which I hear is before or during my birthday. Here's hoping!
yawns* I spent too long on this recap. XD
Time to snuggle under flannel sheets and electric blanket and wake up early for an hour walk with neighbors.
Sweet dreams everyone!!

FA+

Oreo and Skittles are adorable, great dancers, and talented.
Electric matress pad is much more awesome!
Agreed!
What is with furfright/furpoc and these crazy ass storms?? Lol at least the fire alarm didn't go off...
It was a fun con and I'm so glad we got to hang out and everything in between!
Ps: the fleece blanket has now replaced other blankets on the bed. :p it's so warm I use it every night since I'm freaking cold all the time. ^_^
I know right? I think they should call it Storming Furpacolypse. Lol
Me too. It was wicked fun hanging out with you too! ^_^
Aww, I am happy the blankets have been helpful for you both. Have you ever thought of trying herbal hot/cold therapy mittens or slippers? I recommend them.
I should probably look into mittens of the sort. My hands have circulation issues and just can't stay warm!
