Yes, I got a warn for a picture I've marked as "Adult". But mod have sait it should be marked "Mature"

PS. I know more people got warns and suspends because of it too.

I can understand people with SFW filter don't want any mature or adult content.

But what is the explanation for the reverse?

People complaining we're hiding SFW content from them since they have the SFW filter?

I send a small ticket in when I found out about this, not gonna mention particularly the content of the ticket but I got this response, which to me at least, seems reasonable;

Rating content too high is against our policies. Many users filter by rating when looking for content, so if I user is looking only for Adult content they should not be finding General/Mature content mixed in.

It might be an annoying rule but it makes sense, they have Rules and Ratings regarding Uploads and the content of them for a reason.
And they added options as well allowing you to filer out most things on the site so you can see mostly just what you want.

e621 has a better ratings criteria than FA and it can be changed to the correct rating by anyone with an account (unless it was locked to explicit, then it requires an appeal/review to downgrade). Go figure, eh?

Doesn't matter if its forbidden for below 13, you should consider kids at 10 years old as the audience if you're posting general. It helps you rate things better.

Just because you can see people dressing like whores on the street doesn't mean its child appropriate. You should be considered a child until 16, 16 and 17 are teen years when a person is actually mature enough to handle nipples without going "boobies~" like a kid who got his first hair. So, mark things as General, if they do not show nipples. If it barely shows nipples, rate it Mature. If warned about that or banned, appeal and demand the staff establish guidelines to specify their rules more clearly.

Did you know I actually got blocked by a popular artist, and she bitched about me all over twitter making many other people block me too, all cause I asked her to add the letters ych to her topic title, so that I could use a script I had to auto delete the image from my submission inbox? Good god she went on a murder spree and now random people all over FA have me blocked, people I never met before. People who know nothing about me but bullshit rumors. All this would have been fixed if FA had a proper tag system. Like FN.

Sites like Inkbunny allow Cub art, which is just inside of legality as it is "drawn" so does not count legally as child porn (in the U.S., and in most if not all jurisdictions), but many artists, and most financial transaction sites object to it (myself included). This is why I am on FA, and to a lesser extend on Weasyl ( https://www.weasyl.com/~scottruggels ), but no other sites.

The problem isn't so much on the "other countries", it's simply the fact a lot of users are not focused on the AUP guidelines AT ALL. So many times have I gotten "Well I saw someone else do it too so I thought it was ok" as a response when pointing out a submission was against the site rules.

I am completely on the same boat here, I generally let people (and after that the mods) know if someone tags their stuff wrong, but I truly did need to zoom in to see the nippies in this case. A bit of a stretch to me, this one.
I can understand having the general, mature and adult rating if it was made better (some people want to look at artistic nudity and a bit of flirting, not straight up copulation), and people wouldn't post adult content into mature tag all the time.. It just kinda serves no purpose at the moment really. But to be honest the whole FA tagging system is a mess since we have no tag blacklists and no-one cares about tagging things correctly nor does the site care to correct this half the time.

E621 has a beautiful tag-list and it makes stuff so wonderfully convenient and their rating-system actually makes more sense.
I guess it'll take a couple of years, if not longer, for FA to adapt.

No, they probably hired people from E621 who don't know that FurAffinity has much different rating standarts. In E621, nipple bulges are always questionable, and visible genitals are strictly explicit regardless if it's tasteful nudity (mature marker on FA) or explicit sex acts. This is what's the problem. They should NEVER measure FA ratings people are so used to by E621 standarts.

Shesh, I mean kudos on the FA admins that they don't favorize anyone and anyone can get struck down but they are insane when it comes to their punishments. Legit, this is how it works. They wait for people to come to them about someone breaking rules. I know thats how I was suspended and same goes for the artist Roco, he was briefely suspended because someone went back to a several months (if it wasn't downright years) old image that had a underage character in it and reported it. One thing was for certain, the image wasn't fresh when he was suspended because of it.

Which is in the wrong, because if its many months or a year old, the user should get a warning unless its a thing that commonly happens with him. Mistakes happen after all.

In the case of underage this is a little more extreme now because its child porn. But anyway.

However, I agree that if you didn't rate things properly, the ban was justifiable. Unless they didn't even warn you first to change them and then they are the corrupt ones again.

If you look at it and think that its unfit for a 5 year old or a 10 year old to see, rate it Mature. Don't think of kids as 16 year olds and mark your porn according to your belief that 16 year olds should see nipples. If they aren't old enough to see mature stuff, then they can deal with it. Or lie on their profile which they all do anyway. And then THEY can be the banned ones when caught, not you.

However, I don't think over-rating can lead to a ban, I mean that would be fucking stupid and would make the admins corrupt again. I don't know where you heard this. Can you cite the rule they gave you that you broke? I'd like to see this rule about over rating, it sounds fishy to me. The admin who banned you is required to give you the exact rules you broke, and thus you don't even need to go looking for it, just look for his note and you'll see what rules to paste here.

Well you know my opinion on "Striped huntress", it's ridiculous that you got a banned for it. The nipples are only visible if you zoom into the picture. The nipples are not a focus on the picture and only a "natural" part of the character. It's not like that you made a focus in a erotic on these nipples. Your characters are not barbie dolls and so it's simply anatomically correct.

If this is a problem for american standards they should stay at home or people at the beach should wear a Burka or something similar.

Maybe us as a community should push the admins to further clarify their rating system, that way neither artists nor admins are interpreting the rules. I had a friend get flagged when he marked something as 'adult' when the admin thought it was tasteful nudity except the artist's intent was that the nudity was seductive and sexual in nature, not artistic or educational and the poster knew it as such.

That's what I dislike most about the admin for this site. They're unreliable in social or harassment situations (at least in my experience) and they impose unfair rules like this on us. -_-

I mean, yeah, we shouldn't overrun everything, in fact when I post something with tasteful nudity I put the mature label on there, not something over the top like adult for something tasteful.

One thing I would suggest, is to in the future if you feel even the slightest bit unsure. Show the picture to a couple of friends and file a Trouble Ticket, asking about which rating your picture should be under.

Just to be on the safe side so you don't get that third strike unless you seriously mess up.
Also I think it might be a good idea if you can, to contact a mod and see if you can get your hands on Dragoneer, as ask if its possible to get a small warning ahead of time, like a 24 hour notice, giving you time to correct small mistakes like a wrong rating. Especially if the art you get a notice for is several years old, where the rules may have been different from what they are today.

It's ironic that a site full of weird fetish porn bans you for a "general" rated picture that barely shows the outline of a body part. Nudity is not porn, and that wasn't even nudity, so that should be rated as general.

They really should send a warning before banning you. Or change it for you. Clearly you're not doing it with malicious intent, so banning you only causes hurt feelings and less art for the rest of us.

So let me make sure I've got this straight; you were suspended for marking it general, but if you'd marked it "mature" and someone complained it was in the wrong rating class, you would have been suspended.

As I remember Wildering had the same problem with being suspended for a picture with visible nipples. I understand a warn note, but insta ban without any note for something like this? I saw more improper submissions on DA front page that weren't marked as mature than here and still moderators ban users for more dumb reasons. But just to be sure I've marked some of my arts as mature...

I had to squint hard to see the nipple in the first picture (it's anything but obvious), the second one I also have to question but given the gesture she's making I can understand it being Mature, but a suspension over old pics you overlooked (and one you have to look very hard to notice)? That's just bull... even  macmegagerc has had issues with the nipple rule in the past.

Might I suggest getting someone, say a friend or a viewer who has shown you a lot of good support in the past to look over your pics first over say Dropbox or the like. You may not see such things as easily as you have worked on the piece for so long, (Trust me... I know the pain of having everyone see a flaw you missed, and the like) that you glaze right over things like nipples.

Fact is a pair of fresh Eyes may be able to say "Yeah, I feel like that's nipple-esque enough, or that it seems clean. Maybe even 2 or 3 (For a good majority ruling) to help you feel safe. Just having that buffer space to ask first may do you a realm of good. At least in terms of your nerves on the issue

Not sure how to feel about all this since I had someone whine at me once for a completely non explicit image with lingerie in it, you see worse on real TV ads lol. Depends! Honestly it probably wouldn't have been if I'd checked with an admin, but I just wanted to get the person off my ass so I just changed it for the heck of it.

One note I -will- make however is be well-informed of fetishes if you're a mixed artist (nsfw and sfw) as even light amounts of bdsm things count as Mature/Adult.
There's a few artists I know that have had issues because they posted fully dressed images but with collar and leash, or light bdsm assets involved, and when it crosses into any easily recognizable fetish territory (really if one were to scrutinize it well probably any fetish territory) it can't count as ''General'' anymore.

Edit: And it's important to mention that you can make tickets about ''General Issues -> Question about Site Policy'' to request review on what rating you should have, that'll also cover your ass in case you're doubting.

I find it odd that FA is a stickler about that level of nip. It's about as much as was in Avatar, and that was PG-13.

I find it odd that they're focused on this trivial thing rather than catching scammers, thieves and liars/tracers.

There's a surprising amount of under-aged artists, commissioners and watchers on FA and while I think things can turn a little petty at times, I'm sure they enforce it to avoid legal repercussions. Though it continues to surprise me most that the whole website isn't considered strictly 18+ considering the stuff you find on the frontpage at times, filter or no filter..

You can see nipples no matter what your gender is, so why are they so picky about that stuff?
You can see the outline of guys nipples if they wear a thin t-shirt! Babies have nipples for crying out loud!

I can see why it's a concern to crack down on drawings that were misplaced as SFW when they should have been NSFW. Though I think judging from what I'm seeing and this manifesto that the FA staff has placed, that this seems like it's going way too far. A warning for these past submissions would have been a better idea so that artists could act accordingly. Even if perhaps the people that got suspended may have had a past record of misplacing images in this way, suddenly deciding to unleash hellfire and brimstone on these people out of the blue just seems wrong.

As a result of this, we have the furry community freaking out because this is timed ironically with social media cracking down on hate speech. Even though this might not be linked to that, it doesn't change the fact that people are going to react as if this truly is a conspiracy set to de-platform anybody for daring to speak against the SJW-infested society we are living in.

Like I said, I understand the motivation behind cleaning the place up. This was one of the main reasons I even stayed in FA to begin with simply because I can tell that they can respect people like my boyfriend, who has made clear to me how NSFW images can make him feel sick to his stomach. In a case like this, he's not demanding snowflake treatment and I know this because he has tried to get medical help for this, but to no avail. But this is in regards to people like my boyfriend who are 18+. We haven't even scratched the surface to how bad this becomes when kids under the age of 18 get exposed to NSFW that is mislabeled. At this point, we're talking legality issues, which I don't think anyone could or should argue against.

But yeah, these are my two cents regarding this. I feel bad for people like you and Roarey, but I know that there should be some standards held to the content in FA. If you disagree or perhaps I misinterpreted the situation, it's probably worth mentioning in response. I don't know if I'll be able to respond, but I wanted to bring some discussion regarding this. These policies don't seem to be going away anytime soon, so I think proper response to this is mandatory.

If you give someone admin, they'll usually end up using the rules as an excuse to flex their perms or push their opinions rather than to actually improve the atmosphere of their community. Suspending someone for absurdly insignificant "offences" seems like an example of that.

We've made changes to how we handle ratings changes, so fret not! We've heard your feedback and made corrections accordingly.

fa rules are just dumb now. Toggle sfw and all mature/adult disapear. Also outlined nipples. We see much worse during commercial but it doesn't bother anyone.
