As An Idiot,

I'm unsure how all the Net Neutrality fuckery will impact this site, and other sites I depend on for doing what I love for a living.
Can anyone see into their crystal ball and determine whether I'm gonna be eating my own leg this time next year?
Apologies for the slowed content lately. I feel like a husk, honestly. I need something to get the fire going, but the bad news doesn't stop and I feel like I've been living the same shit day for months now.

FA+

Which strangely has me feeling somewhat powerless
Or you know, what search functions will be like when COMCAST is running it.
Ohhhhhh goooooooddddddddd
A lot of ISPs are also experimenting with data caps, too. The likely scenario is that fastlaned sites don't contribute to your cap but others do, so browsing FA would eat into your month bandwidth (like a mobile device) and then charge you overages. Desktop sites eat up a hell of a lot more bandwidth than mobile ones and this would hit people really hard.
Especially people who watch HD movies (goodbye, 4K) or download games (especially, again, with 4k assets).
A large swath of people in this country only have Netflix, porn, online gaming, etc as a respite from their daily lives. Maybe it's optimistic, but to take even that away *I hope* is a bridge too far. NOBODY bloody wants this.
This is what Comcast does right now. I'm on a 75Mbit download plan but they have a "boost" package the add on which can up your downloads to 240Mbit under certain circumstances. So that's what they'll continue to do. Any progress or improvements will just be sold and packaged to consumers under add-ons instead of the natural progression we get now. And they'll blame it on websites like Netflix that use too much data. Because that's why they have to cap you. Netflix and Hulu are "hurting" consumers. I know this to be true because they've already used that argument, which is partly what lead to current Net Neutrality being what it is.
I'm not terribly thrilled at the prospect of it becoming even more trash.
CONSTANT bitching. I know it seems stupid, but the more people make a scene (like with the Starwars Battlefront and things like it) the more they'll be impacted and the more people qill pay attention

They've done a lot of things which are explicitly anti-net neutrality, despite claiming they support it. They mostly have it listed so they can shut up supporters of net neutrality by going "See? We support it!" and then do the opposite behind the scenes.
its insane and most of it is from japan, granted you have to have the filter off.
They intend to make it back by tacking tons of micro-fees onto your monthly bill.
I'm thinking they'll start by selling "premium" speeds to certain sites for extra fees and disguise it as a feature.
"Boost your Netflix bandwidth to support 8K for an extra +$3/month! Hulu premium quality for +$2! Crunchyroll hi def bandwidth for +$1!"
Who knows where it'll eventually lead.
The best thing you can do at this point is encourage people to vote. Get people registered, get people interest in politics and how it impacts them, and tell them to vote their asses off in 2018. Turn the tide to politicians who put people before corporations.
It's a shame Congress members have no term limits; funny how they're the ones who would have to change that...
