Holy EFF, MAN! Gamefreak didn't drop Crystal Version! The news just hit me like a wave!
OOH hohoho~! You know what this means? Not only Kris isn't "non-canon" anymore, it also means
that blasted Celebi encounter that was locked away by mobile-phone event connection has FINALLY been given to us!
The time onion-fairy got the original introduction realized just like Japan did waaaaay back.
I was almost certain Kris, a personal favorite female trainer of mine, been destined to be lost as a character.

It was not like her design is hard to modernize, but... some executive at either Gamefreak or Nintendo had a liiiiiittle too much sake.
That, or the person is totally foolish of elderly age. My take is; if you gonna do a honest-to-the-source remake, never retcon
a key element in the process when there's no excuse. :V

Kris was practically a afterthought choice in a game's development... released in the Game Boy Color's twilight years.
Plus the fact she never was selected popular in use well outside of PokeSpecial manga. So... yeah.
Huge pecking order difference of priorities on who comes back for remade looks and who is left out of a job.
