Good News, Bad News

Hay peeps!
My life's been kinda busy lately (what else is new?)
I just finished my finals at school, which wasn't really hard, since I kick ass at math and only had one other class. The final for my guitar class was a live performance in front of a captive audience. The performance was... well... imagine the sound of a train hauling a bunch of guitars jumping the tracks, rolling down a mountain and crashing into a nuclear power plant. That would pretty much sum up how the concert went. Yeah, it wasn't pretty. It was so bad that the highlight of the concert was when one of the girls fell off the stage... like I said; train-wreak...
Despite our horrible performance, however, we apparently all got good grades in the class! Literally an 'A' for effort XP
I really should practice more on my guitar...
Speaking of practicing, I have been practicing on my piano quite a bit. I freakin' LOVE that I can use headphones on it! Surprisingly my family hasn't tried to screw with me when I practice on it. So far, I have learned something like four songs on it? All Christmas songs of course, and simple versions of them. Although I have been practicing with the more advanced version of 'Silent Night', which is still pretty darn simple. One other song I have been working on learning that isn't X-mas related is 'Once Upon a Time' from Undertale, which I'm actually making decent progress at. (there's a play button in the upper-left of the screen in that link if you wanna listen to what it sounds like, or you can hit your space key).
Now as far as the condition of my eye goes, I'm still taking medication for my eye, though the condition of my eye is relatively unchanged. It seems that my eye just randomly decides to be hyper-sensitive sometimes, and other times is just fine. Unfortunately it never seems to be hypersensitive when I'm actually with the doctor, so all he's been having me do is continue to put medicated drops in my eye.
Hopefully the problem will just eventually go away. I really don't like the idea of having random hypersensitivity in my eye for the rest of my life, nor do I want to keep paying for doctor visits only to have him prescribe the same thing. Although, the first time I went to the doctor, he said I had an abrasion on my eyeball, and the last time he said it just looked inflamed, so maybe it is getting better, it's just taking forever? Here's hoping!
In other news, I was able to sign up for classes for next semester. The good news is that I was able to get into a few classes that I was actually needing for my degree, aside from the math class. The bad news about this is, I will have class every day of the work week (Monday thru Friday) so I'm gonna be SUPER swamped with the school work. I may even have to end up dropping one of the classes if it ends up being too much of a work load to handle. Here's hoping I don't end up getting overwhelmed from the extra classes, so I might be able to move forward with my degree.
Now I've saved the best bit of news for last. Yesterday, I received an inheritance check from my grandpa, who passed away a few years ago (rest his soul). The amount I received was a little more than $28,000. (seriously Grandpa, thank you!).
Of course, even though the check is for that amount, I won't be actually receiving the full amount since the government wants to take their unfair share in taxes. So I need to speak with a tax adviser before I do anything so I can try to minimalize the amount the government will try to take from me. (kudos to my aunt for dealing with the legal nightmares and tax headaches involved with carrying out my grandpa's will)
But, after I deal with the tax issue, I think it's safe to assume I will still have over $20,000, which will be more than enough to make a down payment on a house! Unfortunately, I still can't qualify for a home loan until August, when I reach my two years in my current trade. So my plan is to put my inheritance in a savings account, and try to save up even more money before August, and then try to find myself a house to buy.
I was actually already planning on saving money to try to get enough for a down payment on a house in August, so my plan hasn't actually changed much, the only difference is now I won't just have enough to make the down payment, but I'll also have enough to have a financial cushion as well! (probably keep at least $10,000 for my cushion).
Unfortunately that means that I'll be stuck in my current living situation at least until after August. I've pretty much given up on trying to find a place to rent since people don't tend to move in the winter, and by the time it IS moving season, it will probably be after August. (plus I can actually save up more money this way).
Well, that's it for now. Lotta stuff going on. Hopefully I can squeeze in some time to draw before next semester starts...

If I ever go, and have that much money, I think I'd pass it on via a wad of money in a safe rather than let the oh-so-generous government count it out for me. At least that's the fantasy.
But yeah, hopefully this is the beginning of a brighter future for me.
Regardless, hopefully the money you get to keep will help you in the future.
But yeah, this is a HUGE booster for finally getting my life moving forward.
and Happy Christmas, Winter solstice, winter wrap up, and other holidays
