Maybe i've been out of the game or a while, but I'm sitting here and not seeing much traditional art at all. I also have tons of people encouraging me to take my stuff digital. My digital art isn't anywhere NEAR as good as my traditional and seems to look a good bit different too.
I just like doing traditional art. I like coloured pencils and markers and getting dirty. I guess thats... weird? I dunno.
Maybe my prices are too high. Maybe I've not been back long enough.
Either way... We'll get this worked out. I'm hoping 2018 has something in it for me.

A lot of weird is going on. I hope that the con i have in March proves other wise, y'know? Like stuff... actually moves.
So I'm not sure why I'm not getting what I used to, whether it is cause of my art style, how much I'm asking for or what.
I have a bookmark to send you. Gotta get that done eventually.
While I still do traditional I just don't post it as much cause the scanner always seems to kill the colors.
As a point of trivia, VCL (remember them?) instituted its presentation requirements because too many people were just chucking raw scans onto the site with no editing/cleanup whatsoever. They looked like smudge-riddled crud, and tended to discourage people from visiting the site, which prompted the rule change (as well as the requirement that you demonstrate knowing how to clean your scans when signing up for an account)
Personally, I'm in poverty myself at the moment, but once I'm back on my feet...
... oh... i ... dont know that i fit in here anymore.
You are most assuredly NOT alone!
I like the meaty feeling of doing it by hand. i like the look of markers vs pencils. I want to learn to combine them.
I want to make things look like they do in my head and i know thats through practice.
Also have your hubby meats text me. I need to speak with him and i keep... not braining when he's avalible
:3 Will do! *hugs*
And there's also that age-old (well since digital became viable on typical consumer-grade computers) factor that traditional requires regular infusions of dedicated supplies ($$) and it's difficult to recover from mistakes once you've started inks/color. The difficulty and additional effort/skillset doesn't register with/isn't appreciated by the majority of non-artists (recall all the posts and Youtube videos from artists complaining about non-artists chronically under-estimating how much work goes into their output). I know I've spent about $120 on a 160-marker set (Touch Three, via AliExpress) and have been lugging them to conventions for 2-3 years now, and can count on my fingers the number of times I've had occasion to use them in Artist's Alley. I also have a 120-color set of Prisma pencils, and literally no spare time at all to learn to use them properly since I'm so far behind on personal artwork I've penciled that I want to color digitally.
I do understand what your saying and this feedback helps me as well.
I"m not in a good place mentally and its crashing down in every avenue I try to use as constructive escape.
That's why there's so much digital.
There are a LOT of traditional artists but they're a niche purely because there's a flood of non digital. If you look around you'll find that a lot of the top 100 FA artists are doing traditional.
Beyond that, yeah... it's the holidays. People's bank accounts are all tied up, that or they're waiting for Steam to open the flood gates ^^;;
for the lack of commissions i think you've stated it yourself: you've been gone a long while, people moved on thus your audience shrank. back then you were uploading art consistently and had your popular comic to act as a magnet. starting anew is gonna be hard but not impossible!
ANYWAY
what neer said is true. theres always a place for art! None of your art pieces is unwelcome!
In general: Welcome back ♥
That said, I love your traditional works. *baps self*
(har, har, draw)
...since the markers I use are getting so expensive. The tech digital works with is improving quickly, so in a way, is probably a lot like back when transportation was taking a transition from trains or the usual horse and buggy to automobiles... there's been some quirks, not everybody can make that stretch, not yet, but it's real easy to see that it's a growing trend. Will be interesting to see what happens in the next 20 or 30 years.
That said, I'm still def a traditional media artist here.
Traditional is always great to see. You don't need any tech to draw things, Just a pencil and some paper.
