Character Bits Part 8
Well, it's been almost a year since my last Character Bits journal. To be fair, a lot of bad things happened during 2017 and we're still dealing with it. Still, I can't fall behind on stuff more than I already am, so here are more random bits of information about my characters:
Wayne is very much a showoff macho kind of guy. As such, he will never in his life dare to admit to anyone, especially his brother, that like the city kid he is, he's terrified of cockroaches.
Having grown up in a farm with just his dad, Freddy had to learn to tend to himself and his dad a lot from a very young age. As such, he's actually quite the good cook, the second best among all my guys right behind Cyrus, who cooks for a living. He also has no problem doing most of the typical house chores, except for one thing, and that is windows. Cleaning windows is the bane of Freddy's existance.
Despite how much of a hard worker he is and his insistance of being freelance and available for the job 24/7, Mason still tries his best to take the occasional day off, not just to unwind and have fun himself, but also to spend more time with his son, like going to the movies, taking him to carnivals or to buy comic books, eating out together, etc.
Despite french fries being his actual favorite food, Remmy's favorite full meal is breakfast, and other than his uncle Cyrus's breakfast, no breakfast satisfies Remmy more than the one at Waffle House. It's one of Remmy's favorite eateries and he goes often, especially very late at night, as fitting with his more nocturnal nature.
And going with the above bit, Cyrus takes great pride in his work running his Bed & Breakfast, especially when it comes to the actual breakfast part of things. As such, when his favorite nephew Remmy decides to have breakfast at Waffle House rather than at the B&B (namely because Waffle House is closer to his home, open 24 hours and Remmy wouldn't want to bother his uncle so late at night), Cyrus feels his pride be insulted and Remmy ends up getting an earful from his uncle.

*snickers* I get the feeling there's some sort of dog joke in the bit about the windows.
That sounds like Mason all right! Such a good dad. ^_^
LOL! You were right, your bit with Remmy definitely is influenced by your recent Florida trip.
Awww, poor Cyrus, but Remmy doesn't mean anything by it. I hope he isn't too hard on his nephew.
Nope, no dog jokes. It's just that he plain hates cleaning windows, especially the outer side of the upstairs ones.
I'd say Mason's a bit better as a dad than Cyrus, if only because Cyrus can't help but loving how much of a chick (and occasional dude) magnet he is when he goes to his son's school for whatever reason, much to his son's chagrin.
Told you. Waffle House was too damn good, and I definitely love breakfast at any hour.
He's not too hard on Remmy, thankfully, just kind of annoying about how his nephew shouldn't be going out to pay money for breakfast when he has perfectly yummy breakfast for free at the B&B.
Ahh hehe okay!
*smirks* Well Cyrus is quite the dish. But aside from that, I'd say he is a great dad (and uncle),
Has Remmy explained to him why? And what did Cy say to "I don't want to bother you late at night like that"?
Cyrus is quite the dish? That's definitely the most peculiar thing to describe him I've heard in a long time.
And yes, Remmy explains, but Cyrus insists, even gets suspicious about that behavior. Basically it becomes a sort of interrogation scene that would both weird Blake out and make him feel like he's on the job.
LOL! Have you never heard that idiom before? Or just never had it applied to Cyrus? Anyway, it's true.
Huh. Actually if Blake ever heard that, he might try and step in, calm Cyrus down, and protect Remmy a bit. Maybe let him know a time he saw him at Waffle House, and can vouch for him that he was alone and doing nothing weird, just happened to be awake at a late hour due to being nocturnal. Hopefully him being a cop would make that a good defense rather than something to make Cyrus even more suspicious...
And no, never heard of that idiom before. I got to go look what 'idiom' means too.
Oh see, that's the thing, Cyrus knows Remmy wouldn't be doing anything weird. It's more a matter of pride, sorta like how a mom or grandma who's a good cook would feel if they heard their kids tried a dish that was "better than mom/grandma makes it".
Idiom is a turn of phrase that doesn't mean what it seems to literally mean. One of those things when you're not a native speaker which makes learning a new language difficult.
Ahh I see. Well still, glad he isn't too hard on Remmy then.
Aaaah, I see. And it's yet another example of me not being 100% fluent in English.
And no, Cyrus is not hard with Remmy at all. It's more annoying than anything, actually, just something that annoys the other, hence why Remmy never tells Cyrus when he goes to eat at Waffle House.
I'm sure if you think about Spanish, you can find plenty of examples with English speakers have trouble learning and getting at first.
Good. I love Cyrus dearly, but you know I'm very protective of Remmy. *cuddles*
