The ones you are adopting out are so much better than crap like this orig05.deviantart.net/6456/f/2012/160/b/e/__free_warrior_cats_adoptables___by_autumnheart803-d52tm4l.jpg
Seems like a reasonable thing to do to adopts. I remember a few years back another vore artist went around and bought cheap sub $5 adopts specifically to draw getting vored once.
I've been checking out the adoptables market recently and I was expected people to be more protective of these characters. I.e. People saying you can't use these characters for NSFW scenes or certain situations or kinks. But nope, nothing like that. The use-once adoptable is interesting. It doesn't add anything for me but conceptually it's super interesting.
I think its because a lot of the time, adoptables are people scraping the bottom of the barrel to get money and have no passion for the characters they make. Some (a lot) grab a line art that someone else made, then quickly slap on random patterns and colours. It is easy to see which patterns are lazily made. Sometimes people even just manipulate that hue slider to make several adoptables from one pattern.
I love it when people make genuinely unique characters that people can buy. By unique i don't mean a shit ton of patterns and piercings to make a characters stick out like a sore thumb though. :p
Yeah I'm in two camps. On the one hand unique characters feel extra valuable - but if you like it chances are someone else has bought it before you even saw it. Colour palettes give you a better chance to get a character. Sometimes I prefer a simple colour palette though - I don't want a character with so many markings and a rainbow of colours that it'll be a pain for artists to re-create.
I was aboiut to exhort you to resist that urge to get adoptable, but the fact that you want to do horrible things to them and I'd love to watch suddenly made me reconsider... ;)
I probably wouldn't anyway. I dont want to encourage mass production of adoptables. Its annoying seeing them everywhere all the time. Sometimes people do free ones, and those i might take.
I'm nearly addicted to adopts, but I control myself in only getting one or two at a time. I think the idea of adopting them solely to do horrible things to them is great. >:3c Like perma-death-ing them after them being bought. But I wouldn't tag the artist in that. OwO
As much as I loathe to contribute to the overabundance of adopts, it is seemingly the best way to fund creation of new species refs.
