A Realization... + The Way I Work.

Alrighty. After a bit of time reviewing and talking to people about the previous journal posted here, we've mainly been coming to the same conclusion about things.. art-related things.
And that is the fact that I apparently give little to no time to do artwork of any sort for myself.
For the most part? This rings true. But at the same time, it might also be the reason for artistic burnout.
I try to forego most of any 'personal' or 'fun' work so I can focus on my commissioners and the projects that have been waiting for them for some time.
There's a lot of ideas and projects I would love to do with others, but I have to set those projects by the wayside so I can focus on living up to my end of the commission situation, though as a result, I'm usually drained.
The workload is steadily getting lighter, yes, but at a somewhat mental AND physical cost, mainly of wear and tear on both of those for me.

So I ask; WOULD my current userbase / followers mind me posting and doing more personal stuff in between the commission list? I'm not wanting to like.. prioritize it heavily, but it might be good for my mental health.

Your gallery, your hours, your business.
Like all artisans, you've got to take it easy sometimes.
Kick back and revisit something you love.
Or maybe try that one thing that you've been itching to experiment with.
You control your art.
Don't let your art control you.
I know we'll love whatever you post, personal or not.
We shouldn't mind seeing more personal art from you in between commissions.
Perhaps if you take commissions less frequently and end up with a less massive backlog of stuff crushing you, youre only human and everyone deserve a break.
I understand the temptation to take on more and more, to pay for things because money is a very demanding master and you need it, but as much as you can, try lessening your expendature, saving where you can, and freeing up your cashflow some so you dont have to rely on it so heavily and get yourself so bogged down.
so go ahead, do a few things for yourself :3 do a couple of things then after every few commissions stop and do somehting for yourself, it will help tremendously
