Artists of FA! I have a question
What are your favorite/most used FREE tutorials for art
Can be anything from simple sketching techniques to shading to how to draw "Fluids".
Would be neat to see what everyone knows of.
Also, for non-artists, who would be your art senpai (aka you wish you could draw like em). Mine.. would probably be

the idea that there are artists who would be glad to teach others, and mentor, is something sorely needed today.
Why not make a journal "series", focusing on one part at a time, e.g. paws, feet, heads, body, etc. ^^
Then have people list tutorials they find for each. ^^
Start with a journal seeking good paw tutorials.
These aren't from FA but I do have a massive collection of tutorials here: https://scyflypony.deviantart.com/f.....5982/Tutorials
pretty much sums mine up and thats just the public stuff
I like Kaiber's tutorial on 'fluids'
Although I don't know if she has othe tutorials.
I look up alot of videos on youtube, so many good artists there. Almost anything you want can be found (except NSFW).
Some of my favourites are:
Brookes Eggleston, Character design tips.
Xabio Art's, Beginner art tips and funny guy.
Bobby Chiu, great artist and has good videos for people who are looking to get more professional with their art!
I'll come back here and post the link if I can find it again.
Once the person knows the basics, now everything is about practice and studying, being it anatomy, backgrounds, clothing etc. The more your draw the better you become ^^
- 99% of good resources are paid
- 99% of tutorials are horribly bad and do more harm than good (because they are done by beginners who don't know what they are doing)
That said, there are a very few actually good resources that are free. I mostly know YT channels.

Apparently if you have more than three links in a row, FA just can't handle it and it breaks in all kinds of absolutely random ways.
My honest suggestion is that if you really want to improve at art, then save up and get paid resources. Nothing that's free will ever be as good as the (good) paid resources. And some are pretty cheap!
Schoolism has industry level art courses and you can access them all at once via a $30 sub per month: http://schoolism.com
I'm subbed and it's the best spent money of my life really.
Also you can grab the best perspective course in existence by Marshall Vandruff for only $12 here: http://www.marshallart.com/other/sh.....deos/index.php
Don't let the old VHS recordings fool you, it's excellent stuff.
Also get some books! Some of the best:
- James Gurney: Color & Light
- James Gurney: Imaginative realism
- Richard Schmid: Alla Prima
- Steve Huston: Figure Drawing for Artists: Making Every Mark Count
For more advanced drawing instructions you can also pick up the Vilppu Drawing Manual and the constructive anatomy books of George B. Bridgman. People also recommend Andrew Loomis but keep in mind that his approach is outdated and he was entirely focusing on the fashion ideals of his days, so his anatomy is heavily influenced by that.
