Now your turn. In the British section there's a comment about hating emos as much as chavs. I do dislike emos...but I couldn't check it off because I don't know what a chav is! Please enlighten me?
Chavs are essentially the tracksuit-wearing ruffians of Britain. Those, generally of a poorer background, coming from rougher estates. They can be alright individually if you know them, but tend to have this awful tendancy to maraud around in large, hostile groups, standing on street corners or outside shops, throwing abuse at passers-by, even beating the crap out of one or two people, usually 'hippies' (which is generally anyone who isn't a chav.)
Chav fasion generally includes three-stripe Addidas tracksuits, a baseball cap or burberry cap and lots of very cheap jewellery referred to as "bling." Dress uniform, for nights on the town, consists of a pair of blue jeans and a horizontally blue and white striped top. I suspect this is because it makes it hard for nightclub bouncers to distinguish between them (seriously.) This is also the group most likely to mug you at knifepoint for heroin money.
Personally, I don't consider a few kids who insist on acting miserable nearly as irritating or inconvenient. z: j
I too, while disliking emos, find the 'chavs' a much more serious threat (i say threat being a single female who usually travels alone). Emo I suppose is just an irritating bunch of kids, as you say.
I've been in fights with chavs before (sometimes you just can't run, say a friend is down) but the worst I've had from an 'emo' is my palm in my own face. z: )
