Lodge Spring Content Request Journal

Requests, What would people like to see, and so on, the more detailed the better, comment or note me..
For a more general request form, you can go here too
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1.....gK2XA/viewform
Also thinking of seting up a Lodge twitter where I'll just drop ideas and such, since seems silly to do those in journals when it might only be a sentence or two, Info will be posted here when that's done
Cheers

I would would love to see the rooms actually labeled with names of who is in the room, or at least the main occupant. I would honestly force the players to look at a room roster right at the start so it makes sense. It wouldn't matter looking into each room over and over, but it's timed.
A way to load a saved game from inside the game with a command after a bad end. If there is one, I can't figure it out. :P
Honestly the game timer probably shouldn't start till after you fill out the starting detail options and go through the door. *laughs* I had a time where *after looking at the options for a while and reading the guidebook* I went in and was promptly eaten by Rorshack after he had already eaten 4 people. Used only 8 turns lol.
I assume you start small, and have to eat more to get big enough to interact with the bigger npcs? I need to play more to figure that out first I think. But I didn't see any "player is this size" type stuff right off. I saw things mentioned like gaining sexual dom points, but have no idea how many I have, or if I am even making any, and how many is required to do the next thing.
I like the "reversal" feel the game gives, I played a lot of the prey mode. I'll try to get more of the pred mode to see what it has so I can make good suggestions. Since some stuff might already be there. In my mind though, while prey you have to be very submissive to NPC's stay alive. While pred you are far more empowered or grow that way slowly so you are more dominant to NPC's or more impressive to them. *Like the whole game flip-flops* So hopefully that was the intention ^^
Impregnation, that is planned in general actually, have the coding done and everything prepared for a functional logic, have testing plan on using it with Woodclose(female player) but would obviously be natural to spread to the ladies like Eventide, Fevor, Posh and Riley*Among others)
Courting/dating is already slowly being rolled out for various characters, Riley unfortunately isn't to high on the list, hasn't been demanded before you,
Feeding...Riley currently does NOT have any specific food destined for her, but working on a generic feed function that lets you stuff anyone you want with any food you want(though obviously a generic sorta gobbling scene)
"Preding" the lodge member preds is something I find fun, however. Apart from the obvious(Writing the text and so on) there are complications that are likely to break the game, knowing to disable their scripts, there various instances(Some characters like Rorschach technically have 3+ versions) and so on, doable yes, but I've only heard form a handful of people who've actually done them in game.((Think i put a warning when i first added the vet pred paunch that it was likely o bork the game, I can see that one coming
Doing it "Generically" would have much more trouble than having it for normal prey as well, few prey interact with eachother in the game while many lodge members do.
Feel free to ask any questions though, I'll do my best to reply
Named rooms vs numbers.. Its something I've been waffling on, initally it was even worse, the rooms themselves didn't have names for characters in them(most now do), now its just the exits in that remain mysterious. From a theming point of view I like that they just have numbers, from a ease of play... well yes its god damn easier when you know where you are going. While you mention this a "Possible" idea comes to mind, as in one I don't know that works ,After a trigger(Lets say looking at the room list) all the exits Alises(what the player sees for a name) would change appropiately... it would be very nasty of me to use that against someone when there mind is warped...would be evil..
The Game timer, If your talking about the one that ticks away with turns seconds, that time has almost nothing to do with anything but debuging, none of the events are based on that, they all go by the clock when you enter the first exit. I should make that somewhat more clear. I mainly use it at the start to check on how the weather, random triggers. It wouldn't be hard to move the start of that to after your first move. The seeing the bellies swell has actually nothing to do with that clock though, there is a function to "Feed" the lodge members randomly after x seconds of play, a person is stuffed in a random belly(Which there are a lot of), some characters get a second stab at this, so scenes like the gym will function more than once in a blue moon, having 4 in a guy like Rorshack is rather rare, you WILL see dewy howe stuff for example. Manytimes I wonder on if a Timer is better than a turnscript for things like this..
Loading a save after a bad end, not possible due to the way quest works, it esentially kills all control after it......................................HOWEVER... I'm working on a solution for that, its still in the very early stages, but unlike the first few times I've tried something the basics seem to work.
As in life, many things are dicated by time/energy vs results,
The Predator is far simpler than that really I'm afraid, once you've earned enough favors from the lodge you unlock the ability to eat most prey Npcs, there are a few that you must gain a certain amount of bulk to do(Ie Fructose who I think won't be a snack less you've eaten three meals), You can gain the ability to eat the other preds but the actual scenes for that are very very few. Using size for Predatory ability is something I avoid, know way to may lean hungry little guys, and lots of large fat food.
There are a couple concepts in dealing with predators and prey in the same game, having the various npc's treat you differently if your a predator has a couple problems, the first of course is the amount of text to rewrite for each encounter ,with nearly sixty various hungry boys and girls its not an easy task, let alone rewritting the various scenes, the second more throny problem is letting the player still get eaten even if pred enabled. The way the game works now(for the most part, ther are exceptions) is Trigger->result, setting it up for seperate treatments would be Triger(check status of player-> choose branch -> result
An Odd thing though, the fact that I use an item to indicate if a person is a predator makes it techicnally possible to switch(Ie drop your own gut) much more simply than using a code/flag method
Now this wouldn't be to hard in a smaller game, but at its size now the shere amount of work is, The way I handle this sort of experiment is to do it small scale and see if A)It works, B)People notice, and C) It ends up being worth the amount of effort needed to do it.
All in all some very intersting points you've brought up here, thank you. Hope I answerd them fairly fully.
And trust me I do realize the time/effort needed to do things like this, is totally no pressure. I was simply trying to give ideas that I thought might sound interesting and viewpoints of mine from player perspective. I am totally all about trying to make things easier.
In a way, do view it as being two games in one. Submissive prey side, Dominant pred side. I see it a lot like that and honestly anything done to either side is cool. Like I personally think that the "ending" would be when you have removed *in quite possibly many ways* almost all npcs and the hotel is near totally empty, maybe keeping only a chosen lover one and you take the place over? Or along with that or separate, built a large lady harem with kids if desired.
I personally really love the idea of items to gain ability to do certain pred scenes *this can be also just dominance* to certain characters. *makes for an easy flag* Since so far the really unique scenes to me are the ones I enjoy the most. Maybe eating or removing others during pred mode makes it so you can buy the items for the next one? Something like that? I really love the instances of magic that are in the game it makes it feel like anything is possible to do. And makes for the player feeling as though they are continuing to grow more powerful.
A few I could see being impossible to dominate, for example Rorshack is tough, especially from game build standpoint. It would be easier to make him just ignore you when you go pred mode so you stop running into bad ends *which is frustrating the way quest reload works* And might be wiser to use him to add tasks for you to do to help pred/dom others.
This might sound silly but maybe easier? What if *in the main bedrooms mostly* when you go pred it replaced the character with a new instance. I'll use riley as an example. In prey mode she works like she does at the moment. When you go pred mode, her current character instance is removed, and replaced by a new Riley instance. This one is the Pred mode one and reacts to you different with new interactions and such without checking for your status, it just seems like she is, since you never go back and forth between prey and pred. *other than maybe carrying a certain item to do something to her eventually*
Though it does sound as though when you have "small" status the game kinda treats you different? I haven't been able to experiment with that much yet. I am still playing the game and totally finding more new things new surprises and even characters. So ideas that come to me I'll make sure to pass on. The reversal concepts do shine out to me here quite strongly though. One of those, "oh you were going to do this to me, well guess what it's your turn now" sort of things. Not really vengeance, *most of the time* it feels more like justice. hahaha ^^
You sure the timer thing does nothing? I togged on the Murphy's law scenario, and Murphy got me before I even went in the house! And I can sit perfectly still and see characters come and go. Heck just doing things like entering your name, and choosing your gender count as turns! Ack! lol
Also are buddies something you need to add before you go in? I totally wouldn't mind just randomly finding ones scattered around that are ment just for feeding. I still can't tell the difference between important feed npc *like Cassie mouse* and just a buddy. I feel weird generating anything extra really before going in the house, feels like cheating. Also sounds like you need quite a lot of buddies cause things are hungry!
I'm certainly slowly developing favorites for sure. No real idea why Riley sticks out so much to me, just very sexy roo, I adore kanga so maybe I am biased? lol And Peppercorn is super cute and adorable. ^^ I'm actually still finding more I think I've only ran into maybe half of what is there so far. I don't mind sharing ideas and thoughts when they pop up if you are interested, but don't want to appear like an idea whore. *laughs* Also as always they are always just suggestions. Please always do what you like and want to do no pressure. I do honestly understand how hard it is to do/add things, I've done it myself as well. My only intention is to open up more imagination and ideas that maybe haven't been thought of or considered.
Lastly did you want me to report when a bug comes up or happens? *the pouncer no favor one was pretty bad* I can take a screenshot or something if you want!
Also might be nice to just be able to take the ledger with the room numbers on it, then we can at least just check it really quick. At the moment we can't pick up the occupant list. Which to me just sounds like a piece of paper... right?
And still trying to figure out what a lot of the items do, *the potion, voodoo one, etc* More scattered hints for stuff like this might be good.
And really anything you do is appreciated, since making a game should be fun!
Emptying the lodge(Note hotel, thats another game, don't want people to mix em up to much) would be quite hard from a technical aspect. Beyond the normal characters, you have all the traps, npcs, setting based ends. And as mentioned thats ALOT of characters to chew through...and there WILL be bugs, even if just flavor texts, many of those are baked into lists and functions, removing them fully will be a no go.. I twisted slome logic in there with pred snacks having Spiked collar equivalents...if just to make it easier for people to do the in game logical leap when continuity is down the drain,
Rorshack is actually one you can gobble up(Not sure I'd call it doming mind you), the real ones you'd never be able to beat from my own cannon in game are Harvest(Gryphon in belfry), Gallows(Or shadow shark)Leo(In the grand temple) or his feral version(Which isn't in the live game atm, at least in a eat you sense
Yes, there are probably a few dozen things that affect you separately when small, Macro scenes mainly, sometimes a person whos totally safe to deal with normal gets ideas about small people(Fredericks AV)
Two distinct things really, Turnscripts vs timers, Turnscripts every action will trigger, timer goes on every interval, there are some timers that start on a cycle(Weather as mentioned), The timers I thought you were concerned about were the ones that weren't just cyclical, Ie you could miss out time wise. When you toggled on Murphy you started his timer, which is NOT the same as the game clock. so im not surprised he found you. At the first room don't think any character will wander in there, most you'd get is announcements on where the bear is and simmialr
as for items that unlock other items to buy, apart from the two seperate traders I don't think it would be a good idea to lock items behind a certain order of eating characters, IF preding the preds gets enabled don't want people forced to eat a fav to get something to eat someone they'd like to get rid of
As for prefs, ran a total list of characters recently currently(Before my next update 58 total characters to encounter(Around 8 females/hirs though so certainly going to try to make em more fun to encounter, and easier to find
Many of those items are the trial and error thing, when using a potion, well you'll know what happens better next time when your looking up at a big hungry predator.
In my current build(don't expect it out for a long time) The Ledger has been altered, once look at your assumed to remember where all the places are, I'm going to see if it feels right, otherwise it'll be something you can pick up. either way it should be alot easier
For things with alot of bugs sending me through notes is better, just to make it easier for me to keep track of things
