I just found out that the great Stephen Hawking has passed away at the age of 76, from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis:

For a long time, he was one of the greatest human minds that ever lived. Even though I'm not a science geek in any way, I did know of him from a few documentaries and TV appearances.
