Mental Health, Practicing, and Resuming Commissions
7 years ago
I'm not super sure what to say in general aside from sorry for the wait and for being gone so long.
Without getting too into details, a bit over two years ago I started to seek help for my generally constant bad mood and stress. I ended up having to try about a million medications before I found some that worked for me and in the mean time I had a lot of rough side effects, which is primarily what lead to me not drawing for forever.
There were other factors but that was probably the biggest one.
As an added note to that, I did find out only recently that there are simple genetic tests that can be done to find out before hand if a medication is going to make you sick or crazy, so I highly recommend that if you ever find yourself in a similar situation.
So, anyway. I've been practicing art and feeling better about it. Thanks for all of the support and feedback on stuff I've posted so far. I have a few odds and ends things I drew while I was away that I'll eventually try to clean up and post as well.
My plan right now is to resume work on old commissions this week. It'll probably be slow to start. Once I start drawing things I've already talked to people about, I'll start being in touch with other people I owe things to and working out any details or changes that need to be addressed.
I will also try to get some more informative journals and a post the queue here and whatnot, and maybe start streaming, but I'd like to get a few drawings done so it feels less overwhelming before I start getting too into extra stuff like that.
I am not currently open for new commissions and it will probably still be a couple months while I finish all the old stuff before we start on that. Hopefully in working on the old stuff I'll have a better idea of what my pace and schedule will be like when I do open.
Anyway, thanks for reading, thank you all for the support and kindness I get on this site. Take care.

Glad to hear your feeling better though and can resume doing art and being yourself.
And thank you.
Good luck with your art moving forward, I look forward to viewing it.
Thank you.
I hope your bowls stop breaking. :x
Can you explain the genetic tests?
Lemme see how to explain it...
You do a cheek swab and it gets a profile of your genetics. From there it can make suggestions as to whether or not a medication will have an adverse reaction, or not work at all, due to what kind of receptors you likely have based on your genes.
It sorts them into categories; first being safe, no known reactions or issues.
Second being likely and moderate issues, like requiring either a much smaller or much larger dose than average, or likely instances of more severe side effects.
Third being high likelihood of severe side effects or just flat out not working/incompatible on some level.
It doesn't diagnose your problems so you still need to talk to a doctor and you may still need to go through several meds to find one that really works for you, but it can narrow down the list and tell you what to avoid (basically every SSRI was on the do-not-take list for me).
Hope that helps!
Thank you. That's great information.
This was the one I had done: https://genesight.com/
Take as much time as ya need and I do hope you are feeling better! ^-^
*hugs*
I have a few in queue so there will be some coming up pretty soon!
Well, you know where/how to contact me if neccesary. :)
I hope your move/job search are going well!
And, if ya ever need any help with getting streaming set up, let me know. I'll be more than happy to lend what bit of knowledge I can.
And yeah, definitely finally at a point where it's more good than bad and not setting me back as much when I do have a bad day.
But anyway it's great to have you back and seeing some of your amazing stuff!
But thank you and I'm glad to be back.
And yeah, people here have been great and I feel like I'm coming back with more a lot more enthusiasm then I was at when I left.
